Surya Stotram

japākusumasaṅkāśaṃ kāśyapeyaṃ mahādyutim | tamo'riṃ sarvapāpaghnaṃ praṇato'smi divākaram ||1||

मैं जपा-कुसुम के समान लाल, कश्यपपुत्र, महाद्युतिमान, अंधकार के शत्रु और पापहारी दिवाकर सूर्य को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to Divakara, the Sun, red like the hibiscus flower, son of Kashyapa, greatly radiant, enemy of darkness and destroyer of sins.

jayāya jayabhadrāya haryaśvāya namo namaḥ | namo namaḥ sahasrāṃśo ādityāya namo namaḥ ||2||

विजय को, शुभ विजय को, तवण्य अश्वों वाले को नमस्कार। बारंबार नमस्कार, हे सहस्ररश्मि, आदित्य को नमस्कार, पुनः नमस्कार।

Salutations to victory itself, to auspicious victory, to the one whose horses are tawny. Salutations again and again, O thousand-rayed one, salutations to Aditya, salutations again.

saptāśvarathamārūḍhaṃ pracaṇḍaṃ kaśyapātmajam | śvetapadmadharaṃ devaṃ taṃ sūryaṃ praṇamāmyaham ||3||

मैं सप्त अश्वों के रथ पर आरूढ़, प्रचण्ड तेजस्वी, कश्यपात्मज, श्वेत पद्म धारण करने वाले सूर्य देव को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to Surya Deva, son of Kashyapa, mounted on a chariot of seven horses, intensely radiant, holding the white lotus.

raśmimantaṃ samudyantaṃ devāsuranamaskṛtam | pūjayasva vivasvantaṃ bhāskaraṃ bhuvaneśvaram ||4||

किरणों से युक्त, उदय होते हुए, देव और असुर दोनों द्वारा वंदित विवस्वान भास्कर, भुवनों के स्वामी की पूजा करो।

Worship the rayed, rising Vivasvan, saluted by both gods and demons, Bhaskara, the lord of the worlds.

sarvamaṅgalamāṅgalyaṃ sarvapāpapraṇāśanam | cintāśokapraśamanamāyurvardhanamuttamam ||5||

यह सब मंगलों में परम मंगल है, सब पापों का नाशक है, चिंता और शोक को शांत करने वाला है और आयु बढ़ाने में सर्वश्रेष्ठ है।

This is the most auspicious of all auspicious things, the destroyer of all sin, the pacifier of anxiety and grief, and the finest increaser of lifespan.

eṣa brahmā ca viṣṇuśca śivaḥ skandaḥ prajāpatiḥ | mahendro dhanadaḥ kālo yamaḥ somo hyāpāṃ patiḥ ||6||

यह सूर्य ही ब्रह्मा है, विष्णु है, शिव है, स्कन्द है, प्रजापति है। यह इन्द्र, धनद, काल, यम, सोम और जलों के स्वामी वरुण भी है।

This Surya is Brahma, and Vishnu, and Shiva, and Skanda, and Prajapati. He is Indra, the lord of wealth, Time itself, Yama, the Moon, and the lord of the waters.

ādityaḥ savitā sūryaḥ khagaḥ pūṣā gabhastimān | suvarṇasadṛśo bhānurhiraṇyaretā divākaraḥ ||7||

वह आदित्य, सविता, सूर्य, खग, पूषा, गभस्तिमान, सुवर्ण के समान भानु, हिरण्यरेता और दिवाकर है।

He is Aditya, Savita, Surya, the sky-goer, Pusha the nourisher, possessed of rays, the gold-colored radiant one, golden-seeded, the maker of the day.

hiraṇyagarbhaḥ śiśirastapano'haskaro raviḥ | agnigarbho'diteḥ putraḥ śaṅkhaḥ śiśiranāśanaḥ ||8||

वह हिरण्यगर्भ, शिशिर, तपन, अहस्कर रवि, अग्निगर्भ, अदिति-पुत्र और शिशिर-नाशक है।

He is Hiranyagarbha, the cool one, the heater, Ravi who makes the day, fire-wombed, son of Aditi, and destroyer of the winter cold.

ādityasya namaskāraṃ ye kurvanti dine dine | janmāntarasahasreṣu dāridryaṃ nopajāyate ||9||

जो लोग प्रतिदिन आदित्य को नमस्कार करते हैं, वे अनेक जन्मों तक दरिद्रता से बचे रहते हैं, अर्थात उन्हें अनुशासन, प्रकाश और कृपा की संपदा मिलती है।

Those who offer daily salutations to Aditya do not fall into poverty across many births, meaning they receive the wealth of discipline, light and grace.

enamāpatsu kṛcchreṣu kāntāreṣu bhayeṣu ca | kīrtayan puruṣaḥ kaścinnāvasīdati rāghava ||10||

हे राघव, जो कोई भी विपत्तियों, कठिनाइयों, दुर्गम वनों और भय के क्षणों में इस सूर्य की स्तुति करता है, वह कभी विषाद में नहीं डूबता।

O Raghava, whoever praises this Sun in calamities, hardships, dense forests, and moments of fear never sinks into despair.
