The Bhagavad Gita is just one leaf on a vast tree. The Hindu tradition contains 126 catalogued Gitas — divine dialogues embedded within the Mahabharata, Puranas, and independent philosophical texts. Each Gita captures a unique teaching: the Ashtavakra Gita on radical non-duality, the Uddhava Gita on Krishna's final instructions, the Devi Gita on the power of the divine feminine. Eternal Raga's Gita Universe is the first platform to bring these together.

The Hindu tradition preserves 126 catalogued Gitas — divine dialogues where a teacher reveals ultimate truth to a seeker. The Bhagavad Gita is the most famous, but texts like the Uddhava Gita (Bhagavata Purana), Ashtavakra Gita, Devi Gita, and Guru Gita are equally profound and widely studied within their own traditions.

गीता (gītā) means "that which is sung." A Gita is a divine dialogue — a conversation where a teacher (often Krishna, Shiva, the Goddess, or a great sage) reveals ultimate truth to a devoted seeker. These teachings are found across the Mahabharata, major Puranas like the Bhagavata and Devi Bhagavata, and independent philosophical texts.

The Uddhava Gita is found in Skandha 11 of the Bhagavata Purana and contains Krishna's final teachings given to his close friend Uddhava before his departure from the earth. Often considered more intimate than the Bhagavad Gita, it spans 24 chapters and approximately 1,100 verses, covering bhakti, jnana, and the path of detachment.

The Ashtavakra Gita is an independent Advaita Vedanta text in 20 chapters and 298 verses, presented as a dialogue between the sage Ashtavakra and King Janaka. Known for its direct, uncompromising teaching on non-duality and Self-knowledge, it is considered one of the most radical texts on the nature of consciousness in the Indian tradition.

Gitas exist across all major Hindu traditions. Vaishnava texts include the Uddhava Gita, Guru Gita, and Kapila Gita. Advaita traditions have the Ashtavakra and Avadhuta Gitas. Shaiva texts include the Siva Gita and Isvara Gita. Shakta traditions centre on the Devi Gita. Texts from the Mahabharata, Bhagavata Purana, and Ramayana tradition also contain numerous shorter Gitas.
