Vichitravirya's Marriage and Death
After Amba has left, Bhishma has Vichitravirya married to the Kashi princesses Ambika and Ambalika. The young king, handsome as the Ashvins, lives in pleasure with his two wives for seven years until he is seized by consumption and dies despite the efforts of friends and physicians. Bhishma, grieving, performs his funeral rites in accordance with Satyavati's wishes, together with the priests and the leading Kurus.
