Bhima and Hidimba; Vyasa Comes to the Pandavas

Carrying Kunti, Hidimba leads the Pandavas to the sage Shalihotra's lake, where she builds them leaf huts and Shalihotra feeds them by the power of his mind. Kunti asks Bhima, for dharma's sake, to give Hidimba a son; he agrees on terms, and Hidimba roams with him by day through mountains, forests and shores, bringing him back each night. Vyasa then arrives, tells the Pandavas their exile is the fruit of past deeds, foretells Yudhishthira's rule and the birth of a son to Bhima and Hidimba (whom he calls Kamalapalika), bids them wait for him, and departs.
