The Boon of the Cows and the Worlds Won by Gifts of Cows
Vasishtha tells Saudasa how the cows, created in the beginning, practised austerity for a hundred thousand years and received from Brahma the boon of pre-eminence, of purifying dung, and of carrying their givers to the worlds. He then lists the world won by the gift of a cow of each colour (Brahma's, the Sun's, the Moon's, Indra's, Agni's, Yama's, Varuna's, Vayu's, Kubera's, the Ancestors', the Vishvedevas', the Vasus', the Sadhyas', the Maruts', the Gandharvas' and Apsarases', Prajapati's), and describes the joys of the giver in heaven.

Verse 1 (13.114.1)
śataṃ varṣasahasrāṇāṃ tapastaptaṃ suduṣkaram | gobhiḥ pūrvaṃ visṛṣṭābhirgacchema śreṣṭhatāmiti
The cows created in the beginning practised a most difficult austerity for a hundred thousand years, thinking: May we attain pre-eminence.
Verse 2 (13.114.2)
loke'smindakṣiṇānāṃ ca sarvāsāṃ vayamuttamāḥ | bhavema na ca lipyema doṣeṇeti parantapa
May we be the best of all gifts of fees in this world, and may we not be tainted by any fault, O scorcher of foes.
Note on the text: Corrected लोप्येम → लिप्येम (misprint in Wikisource; 'लोप्येम' is no valid optative form; the sense (not be tainted by fault, with the instrumental दोषेण) and CE 'lipyema' give लिप्येम).
Verse 3 (13.114.3)
asmatpurīṣasnānena janaḥ pūyeta sarvadā | śakṛtā ca pavitrārthaṃ kurvīrandevamānuṣāḥ
May people always be purified by bathing in our dung, and may gods and men use our dung for purification.
Note on the text: Corrected पुयेत → पूयेत (misprint in Wikisource; a short vowel for the long; the optative of पू 'to purify' is पूयेत). Corrected देवमानुषाःठ → देवमानुषाः (misprint in Wikisource; a stray letter ठ after the visarga). Line 2 = CE 13.78.3c; line 1 differs from CE 3a (sa eva cetasā tena hato lipyeta sarvadā). The automatic alignment left it unmatched. Recension variant, kept.
Verse 4 (13.114.4)
tathā sarvāṇi bhūtāni sthāvarāṇi carāṇi ca | pradātāraśca lokānno gaccheyuriti mānada
And may all beings, moving and unmoving, and those who give us, go to our worlds, O giver of honour.
Note on the text: Matches CE 13.78.4 (the automatic alignment left it unmatched) with a variant in line 2 (प्रदातारश्च लोकान्नो गच्छेयुः against CE golokān gaccheyuḥ). Kept.
Verse 5 (13.114.5)
tābhyo varaṃ dadau brahmā tapaso'nte svayaṃ prabhuḥ | evaṃ bhavanviti vibhurlokāṃstārayateti ca
At the end of their austerity, Brahma, the Lord himself, gave them a boon: "Let it be so," said the almighty, "and carry the worlds across."
Verse 6 (13.114.6)
uttasthuḥ siddhakāmāstā bhūtabhavyasya mātaraḥ | tapaso'nte mahārāja gāvo lokaparāyaṇāḥ
At the end of their austerity, O great king, the cows, mothers of the past and the future, rose up with their wishes fulfilled, the refuge of the worlds.

By giving a milch tawny cow with a matching calf, gentle and covered with a cloth, one is honoured in the world of Brahma.
Note on the text: Corrected सम्मनवत्सां → समानवत्सां (misprint in Wikisource; a garbled form; the word is समानवत्सां, as in the parallel verses and CE 'samānavatsāṃ'). The raw page prints a double danda after the first line (पयस्विनीम्।।); reduced to the usual ' ।'.
Verse 9 (13.114.9)

By giving a milch speckled cow with a matching calf, gentle and covered with a cloth, one is honoured in the world of the Moon.

Verse 11 (13.114.11)
