Bhishma Takes Leave of Krishna

After fifty nights Yudhishthira returns to Kurukshetra with the Kuru elders, Krishna and the sacred fires to meet Bhishma, as the sun has turned north. Bhishma counsels Dhritarashtra to treat the Pandavas as his own sons, then praises Krishna as the supreme Person, recalls his warnings to Duryodhana, and asks leave to depart. Krishna grants it, and Bhishma gives his last counsel to the Pandavas on truth, compassion and the honouring of brahmins.
