Brahma Tells the Gods of Garuda and Narayana

Yudhishthira asks what becomes of the twice-born who keep the sacred fires within themselves. Bhishma answers with an old account: when the gods were being slaughtered by the asuras, Brahma led them to praise Narayana, who appeared on Garuda, destroyed the asuras and vanished. At the gods' request Brahma tells how the sages once questioned Garuda about Narayana, and Garuda describes the boon the Lord gave him, his father Kashyapa's teaching, and the Lord's own words to Kashyapa.
