The Fruit of Hearing Garuda's Account

The sages praise Garuda's account and declare the rewards of hearing and reciting it: worlds praised by the divine sages, protection of a shraddha from rakshasas and asuras, and success for each of the four classes. Bhishma tells Yudhishthira that the sages honoured Garuda and returned to their hermitages, that Brahma had told this to the astonished gods, and that those devoted to agnihotra and recitation, giving up laborious rites and meditating on Vishnu, reach the supreme goal.
