The Death of Yavakrita
Lomasha continues the story of Yavakrita (Yavakri). Roaming without fear, Yavakri comes to Raibhya's hermitage in spring and violates the wife of Raibhya's son Paravasu. Enraged, Raibhya offers two of his matted locks into the fire and raises from them a kritya in the woman's likeness and a rakshasa. The kritya steals Yavakri's water-pot, leaving him ritually impure; the rakshasa chases him past dried-up lakes and rivers, and when a blind Shudra bars him at the door of his father's fire-sanctuary, the rakshasa spears him to death.
