Hanuman’s Parting Boon; Bhima Sees the Saugandhika Forest
Hanuman draws in his huge form and embraces Bhima, whose weariness vanishes, and tearfully offers him a boon: to kill the sons of Dhritarashtra, crush Hastinapura or bring Duryodhana to him in bonds. Bhima asks only for his favor, and Hanuman promises to swell Bhima’s war cry and to roar from the banner on Arjuna’s chariot, then vanishes. Bhima crosses the forests, lakes and slopes of Gandhamadana and toward evening sees a river and in it the great Saugandhika forest, and his thoughts turn to Draupadi.
