Arshtishena Welcomes the Pandavas

Yudhishthira, his brothers, Draupadi and Dhaumya pay homage to the royal sage Arshtishena, who recognises them by his divine sight and questions Yudhishthira on his conduct: truthfulness, care of parents and elders, and honour to the five — father, mother, fire, teacher and self. He then describes the wonders of the mountain at the junctures of the lunar fortnights, when sages, Gandharvas and Kubera himself appear, warns the Pandavas that no man may climb beyond this point or behave rashly there, and bids them stay in his hermitage until Arjuna returns.
