Yudhishthira Orders Duryodhana's Rescue
Yudhishthira rebukes Bhima: kinsmen may quarrel among themselves, but an outsider's attack on the family and its women cannot be borne, and those who seek refuge must be protected. Bhima recalls Duryodhana's old crimes, the house of lac, the poisoning, and the outrage on Draupadi, and calls the Gandharva a benefactor; but Duryodhana's cries for help are heard, and Yudhishthira, moved, tells his brothers to free him, by gentle means if possible and by force if not, since he himself is bound by a sacrifice already begun. Arjuna vows to free the Kauravas, and their spirits revive.
