The Vaishnava Sacrifice Proposed
Karna tells Duryodhana that the earth is now his without a rival, and Duryodhana asks him to help him perform a Rajasuya like the one he envied at Yudhishthira's court. His family priest and the assembled brahmins rule that a Rajasuya cannot be held in his line while Yudhishthira and Dhritarashtra live, and propose instead the Vaishnava sacrifice, which rivals the Rajasuya and for which the sacrificial ground is to be ploughed with a golden plough made from the kings' tribute. Duryodhana, Karna, Shakuni and his brothers agree, and the craftsmen set to work.
