Damayanti's Message Is Carried Abroad

Damayanti tells her mother that she will not live unless Nala is brought back. The queen carries her plea to King Bhima, who sends brahmins out once more. Damayanti gives them a message to repeat in every assembly, a reproach to the gambler who cut her garment in half and left her sleeping in the forest, and tells them to find out who answers it and report back. The brahmins search towns, villages and hermitages, repeating her words everywhere, but do not find Nala.
