The Great Gifts for the Fallen

Pleased with the conduct of Yudhishthira and Arjuna, Dhritarashtra chooses thousands of worthy Brahmins and gives food, garments, vehicles, gold, jewels, villages, fields, elephants, horses and women in the names of Drona, Bhishma, Somadatta, Bahlika, Duryodhana, his sons, Jayadratha and his other friends. Yudhishthira's officers pay out ten times what is asked; all classes are fed in a flood of food and drink. After ten days of giving, the king is free of his debt to his sons and grandsons.
