The Sacrificial Horse Is Released with Arjuna as Its Guardian
Yudhishthira asks Vyasa to fix the time for the consecration. Vyasa names Paila and Yajnavalkya as the officiants, sets the consecration for the Chaitra full moon, and tells him to have a fit horse chosen and released. Asked who should guard the roaming horse, Vyasa names Arjuna, and Yudhishthira charges Arjuna to avoid fighting kings who come out to meet him and to announce the sacrifice to them. He leaves Bhima and Nakula to guard the city and Sahadeva to manage the household.
