Bhima Holds Off Ten Kaurava Warriors

Ten warriors of Duryodhana's side — Bhagadatta, Kripa, Shalya, Kritavarman, Vinda and Anuvinda of Avanti, Jayadratha, Chitrasena, Vikarna and Durmarshana — fall upon Bhima together. He pierces every one of them, cuts Kripa's bow and Kritavarman's, and kills Jayadratha's horses and charioteer so that the Sindhu king flees to Chitrasena's chariot; then he cuts down the spear, lance, pattisha, shataghni and arrow they hurl at him. Arjuna arrives with Shikhandin before him and strikes the ten, and Duryodhana sends Susharman of Trigarta with thousands of chariots to surround the two brothers, so that Arjuna's battle with the enemy begins.
