The Two Armies Exult and Close for Battle

Dhritarashtra asks Sanjaya whose warriors fought in high spirits and whose were downcast, who struck first, and on which side the omens of fragrance and favourable wind appeared. Sanjaya answers that the warriors of both armies rejoiced alike, with garlands and fragrances on both sides, and that as the arrayed divisions met amid the din of instruments, conches and drums and the roaring of heroes, a great clash arose. The Bhagavad Gita follows in the next adhyaya.
