Brahma Tells the Gods Who Vasudeva Is
Bhishma continues the tale. The Lord tells Brahma that his wish will be granted and vanishes. When the astonished gods, seers and gandharvas ask whom he has praised, Brahma explains that it is the Supreme Being, who at his request will be born on earth as Vasudeva, together with Nara, to destroy the demons reborn among men, and warns that whoever slights him as a mere man sinks into darkness. Bhishma, who heard this from Parashurama, Markandeya, Vyasa and Narada, rebukes Duryodhana for hating Krishna and Arjuna, who are Narayana and Nara, and declares that the Pandavas are upheld by Vasudeva: where Krishna is, there is dharma, and where dharma is, there is victory.
