Bhima and Shalya Fight with Maces
Dhritarashtra says he cannot hear enough of the duels and asks for the fight between Shalya and Abhimanyu. Sanjaya tells how Shalya, his charioteer slain, leaps down with his iron mace; Bhima holds Abhimanyu back and meets Shalya himself. The two fight a long, evenly matched mace duel, until both fall struck; Kritavarman carries Shalya off, Bhima rises again, and the Kaurava army breaks and flees before the Pandavas.

Verse 1 (7.15.1)
बहूनि सुविचित्राणि द्वन्द्वयुद्धानि सञ्जय । त्वयोक्तानि निशम्याहं स्पृहयामि सचक्षुताम् ॥
bahūni suvicitrāṇi dvandvayuddhāni sañjaya | tvayoktāni niśamyāhaṃ spṛhayāmi sacakṣutām
Sanjaya, I have heard you tell of many wonderfully varied single combats, and hearing them I long to have eyes to see.
Note on the text: Joined from the two half-verse rows the page prints separately (7-15-1a/b); text as printed. Corrected सुवुचित्राणि → सुविचित्राणि, सञ्जय् → सञ्जय, द्वन्द्वयुध्दानि → द्वन्द्वयुद्धानि (misprints in Wikisource; broken vowel sign; the critical edition reads suvicitrāṇi; stray virama; ध्द for द्ध). Line 1 is the critical edition's 7.14.1ab; line 2 reads सचक्षुताम् where it reads sacakṣuṣām (kept as a variant). Adhyaya note: the input for this adhyaya was mis-parsed (each half-line of the raw page was taken as a separate row, so the numbers ran 1, 1, 2, 2, … and nothing was aligned to the critical edition). The text was rebuilt from the raw Wikisource page, joining the a/b half-lines of each numbered verse (41 verses, the page's own numbers kept). The whole page is the critical edition's adhyaya 7.14 (the critical edition's 7.15 is Wikisource 16): CE 7.14.1–36 map one to one onto the page's verses, and the page also carries the star passages *0113, *0114, *0115 and *0118. The heading lines धृतराष्ट्र उवाच and सञ्जय उवाच give the speakers.

Note on the text: Joined from the two half-verse rows the page prints separately (7-15-2a/b); text as printed. Corrected युध्दमीदृग्भूतं → युद्धमीदृग्भूतं, युध्दानि → युद्धानि (misprints in Wikisource; ध्द for द्ध; ध्द for द्ध). Not in the critical edition's constituted text (found in the vulgate recension); the critical edition records it in its apparatus as the star passage 7.14.1d*0113 (two lines, after 7.14.1). It reads īdṛgrūpaṃ where the page reads ईदृग्भूतम् (kept).

Dazed like a drunken man, the hero rose again in a moment; and mighty-armed Bhima too was seen with his mace in hand.
Note on the text: Joined from the two half-verse rows the page prints separately (7-15-37a/b); text as printed. Corrected वीह्वलो → विह्वलो (misprint in Wikisource; long ī for short i; the critical edition reads vihvalo).

Having defeated the sons of Dhritarashtra, the great-chariot Pandavas shone in the battle, O king, like blazing fires.
Note on the text: Joined from the two half-verse rows the page prints separately (7-15-40a/b); text as printed. Corrected इवाग्रय → इवाग्नय (misprint in Wikisource; र for न; fire is अग्नि). Line 2 reads इवाग्नयः where the critical edition reads yaśasvinaḥ (kept as a variant).
Verse 41 (7.15.41)
अथ मड्डुकभेरिमहामुरजाः पणवानकदुन्दुभिनिर्झरिभिः । विनदन्ति भृशं सहशङ्खरवैर्विविधैश्च नरोत्तम सिंहरवैः ॥

Then the madduka drums, the bheri kettledrums, the great murajas, the panavas, the anakas, the dundubhis and the nirjharis sounded loudly, together with the roar of conches and many kinds of lion-roars, O best of men.
Note on the text: Joined from the two half-verse rows the page prints separately (7-15-41a/b); text as printed. Corrected मङुक → मड्डुक (misprint in Wikisource; broken conjunct; the critical edition reads maḍḍuka). Removed a stray quote mark or backtick from the start of the line. Not in the critical edition's constituted text (found in the vulgate recension); the critical edition records it in its apparatus as the star passage 7.14.37d*0118 (four lines, after 7.14.37), which the page prints as two long lines. It reads jharjharibhiḥ where the page reads निर्झरिभिः (kept as a variant). The critical edition's 7.14.37 itself (siṃhanādān bhṛśaṃ cakruḥ …) is not on the page and was not added.
