Duryodhana's Taunt and Drona's Reply
Duryodhana goes to Drona and reproaches him for sparing the rested Pandavas, whom Drona's affection for his pupils lets grow stronger. Stung, Drona promises to fight without restraint, but recounts Arjuna's feats against gods, yakshas, gandharvas and danavas, and tells Duryodhana to go and face Arjuna himself, along with Karna, Duhshasana and Shakuni, as he has so often boasted. Drona then returns to the battle, and the army is split in two.

yattu marṣitamasmābhirbhavataḥ priyakāmyayā | ta ete pariviśrāntāḥ pāṇḍavā balavattarāḥ

We are altogether diminished in vigour and in strength, while they, protected by you, grow again and again.

sasurāsuragandharvānimām̐llokāndvijottama | sarvāstravidbhavānhanyāddivyairastrairna saṃśayaḥ
