Arjuna Asks Drona's Blessing and Passes Him By
Arjuna, having broken Duhshasana's host, reaches Drona at the head of the array and asks his blessing to enter the formation and slay Jayadratha. Drona answers that Jayadratha cannot be defeated without defeating him, and a long duel follows in which the teacher cuts Arjuna's bowstring and veils him in arrows, while Arjuna's countless shafts devastate Drona's army. At Krishna's urging Arjuna circles Drona and moves on, saying he is a pupil, not an enemy; the Panchala wheel-guards follow him, and Jaya, Kritavarman, Shrutayus, the Kamboja and their allies close in to stop him.

Note on the text: Adhyaya note: the input agrees with the raw page, row for row (46 verses). The critical edition's 7.66 has 43 verses. Wikisource divides the CE's three-line verses 12, 13 and 14 into couplets (verses 12-15 here), and its verses 29-31 are star passages (7.66.27d*0478 and 28d*0479) plus one vulgate-only line. CE star passage 7.66.7b*0477 (2 lines), and CE main-text lines 7.66.28 and 29a (replaced here by the third line of verse 31), are not in Wikisource. Corrected दुःशसनबल → दुःशासनबल (misprint in Wikisource; the long ā of the name Duhshasana is dropped; CE 7.66.1 reads duḥśāsana).
