Shalya Defeats Shrutakirti
Sanjaya describes the duel between Shalya, king of the Madras, and the Pandava warrior Shrutakirti. They trade volleys of arrows, each cutting the other's bow, until Shalya halts Shrutakirti's mace and spear, kills his charioteer, and sends his chariot bolting from the field. Shalya then ranges through the Pandava army like a lion among herds, blazing like a smokeless fire.
