Shikhandi Driven Off by Karna; Dhrishtadyumna Fights Duhshasana
Dhritarashtra laments that his army is in flight and asks what his men did. Sanjaya tells how Karna rallied the Kaurava host and led it against the Pandavas, how the warriors on both sides paired off in single combats, and how Karna wounded Shikhandi, destroyed his chariot and drove him from the field. The adhyaya closes with Dhrishtadyumna and Duhshasana trading arrows, Dhrishtadyumna cutting down Duhshasana's bow and Duhshasana, with a fresh bow, besetting him on every side.
