The Clash of the Banners and Arjuna's Vow
The two white-horsed chariots take their stand and the four heroes blow their conches. The monkey on Arjuna's banner attacks the elephant-rope on Karna's, while Krishna and Shalya exchange glances. Karna asks Shalya what he would do if Arjuna killed him, and Shalya promises to kill Krishna and Arjuna; Arjuna puts the same question to Krishna, who answers him, and Arjuna says that Karna and Shalya are no match for him and vows to cut Karna down that day, recalling the insult to Draupadi.
