Vasudeva's Lament
Arjuna meets Vasudeva, who embraces him and weeps for his slain sons and kin. Vasudeva blames the destruction of the Vrishnis on the curse and on the fault of Pradyumna and Satyaki, and tells how Krishna, before leaving for the forest with Balarama, foretold that Arjuna would come, that the sea would swallow Dvaraka, and that Arjuna was to be obeyed as Krishna himself. He says he will neither eat nor live, and hands the kingdom, the women and the treasures over to Arjuna.

Note on the text: Differs from CE 7.1 ('taṃ śayānaṃ mahātmānaṃ vīram ānakadundubhim / putraśokābhisaṃtaptaṃ dadarśa kurupuṃgavaḥ'): Wikisource's reading (Vasudeva sees Arjuna entering) is a recension variant, kept.

Those two pupils of yours, always dear to you and held in high regard: through their misconduct, O Partha, the Vrishnis met their end.
Note on the text: Corrected यो तावर्जुनशिष्यौ → यौ तावर्जुनशिष्यौ (misprint in Wikisource; 'yo tāv' is a misprint for the dual 'yau tāv'; CE reads 'yau tāv arjuna śiṣyau te').

Note on the text: Corrected युयुधानश्चि कथनन्कत्थसे → युयुधानश्च कथयन्कत्थसे (misprint in Wikisource; stray vowel in 'श्चि' and a broken 'कथनन्'; CE reads 'yuyudhānaś ca kathayan katthase ca yau').

na tu garhāmi śaineyaṃ hārdikyaṃ cāhamarjuna | akrūraṃ raukmiṇeyaṃ ca śāpo hyevātra kāraṇam
Yet I do not blame Shaineya (Satyaki), nor Hardikya (Kritavarman), nor Akrura, nor Raukmineya (Pradyumna), Arjuna; the curse alone was the cause in this.

the eastern, southern and mountain kings: that same Madhusudana overlooked this ruinous misconduct.
Note on the text: Second line ('सोभ्युपेक्षितवानेवमनयान्मधुसूदनः') is a recension variant of CE 7.11c ('so 'bhyupekṣitavān etam anayaṃ madhusūdanaḥ'); read here as 'overlooked these wrongs'. Wikisource's footnote glosses काशिराजम् as पौण्ड्रकम्; the gloss is not text and is not added.
