The Splendour of the Rajasuya
With Shishupala dead, Yudhishthira's Rajasuya goes forward under Krishna's protection, conducted by sixteen priests led by Vyasa and Dhaumya and organised by Sahadeva. The narration dwells on its golden arches and vessels, the endless feeding of brahmins, marked by a conch blown for every hundred thousand fed, the mountains of food and lakes of ghee, the learned debates, and the celestial singers and dancers. People of every class and land crowd in; Bhishma, Drona, Duryodhana and the Vrishnis serve like attendants, and Yudhishthira gives away to the brahmins all the treasure the kings had brought him.
