Krishna Slays Shishupala
Shishupala challenges Krishna to single combat and the two fight with arrows and then with paired divine weapons, until Shishupala's sorcery is undone and Krishna, covered in arrows, is urged by his charioteer Daruka to end it. Krishna declares that this foe was once Hiranyakashipu and Ravana, blows Panchajanya and cuts off Shishupala's head with his discus; a radiance rises from the body and enters Krishna. The kings react with silence, rage or praise, and Yudhishthira has the funeral rites performed and Shishupala's son installed as king of the Chedis.
