Narada Explains the Portents of Doom
As Shishupala stands armed for battle, Yudhishthira asks Narada about the signs that foretell the fall of kings. Narada lists the omens of the planets, of trees, images, animals, births, rivers and the earth, and explains that all such signs proceed from Keshava, who now announces through them the end of the Chedi king. As the battle nears, the kings see eclipses, earthquakes, howling jackals and a vulture falling on Shishupala's banner.
