Vyasa's Prophecy and Yudhishthira's Vow

After the sacrifice Vyasa comes to Yudhishthira, blesses him and prepares to leave. Asked whether the portents Narada spoke of have passed with Shishupala's death, Vyasa foretells that within thirteen years the kshatriyas will perish, with Yudhishthira as the occasion, through Duryodhana's offence and the might of Bhima and Arjuna, and he describes the dream of Shiva that Yudhishthira will see when that time comes. Shaken, Yudhishthira thinks of dying, but when Arjuna rallies him he vows to speak no harsh word and to avoid all discord for thirteen years.
