Shakuni Proposes the Game of Dice

Shakuni tells Duryodhana not to resent Yudhishthira: the Pandavas enjoy what fate has allotted them and what their own exploits have won, and Duryodhana is not without allies, for Drona, Karna, Bhishma, Kripa, Jayadratha and others stand with him. When Duryodhana proposes to conquer the Pandavas in battle, Shakuni warns that not even the gods could defeat them and offers another way: Yudhishthira loves dice but plays badly, and Shakuni, unrivalled at the game, will win his kingdom for Duryodhana. Shakuni asks Duryodhana to put this to Dhritarashtra, but Duryodhana asks Shakuni to do it himself.
