Yudhishthira Answers the Summons to Dice

Sent against his will by Dhritarashtra, Vidura reaches Indraprastha and delivers the invitation to a friendly game of dice in the new hall at Hastinapura. Yudhishthira foresees strife and asks who the gamblers are, but bound by his vow never to refuse a challenge, and seeing fate at work, he sets out in royal procession with his brothers, Draupadi and a great army. At Hastinapura he greets Dhritarashtra, Bhishma, Drona, Gandhari and the Kauravas; Draupadi's splendour vexes Dhritarashtra's daughters-in-law, and after a night of rest the Pandavas enter the gaming hall.
