Narada's Virtues and the Weapon That Is Not Iron
Yudhishthira asks who on earth is dear to all the world and endowed with every virtue. Bhishma recalls how Krishna, asked by Ugrasena, listed the virtues of Narada: his freedom from pride, anger and greed, his truthfulness, learning, patience and evenness toward all. The passage then tells how Narada found Krishna troubled by the hostility of his own kinsmen and advised him to silence them with gifts, a weapon not made of iron, and how Krishna, smiling, did as the sage urged.
