Karna at the Svayamvara of the Kalinga Princess

Narada continues: armed with the weapon he had won, Karna stayed with Duryodhana. At the svayamvara of King Chitrangada's daughter in Kalinga, kings from every quarter gathered, and Duryodhana came with Karna. When the princess passed him by as the kings' names were proclaimed, Duryodhana would not bear the slight, lifted her onto his chariot, and challenged the kings, with Karna behind him. The kings attacked; Karna cut down their bows and arrows, struck down their charioteers, and drove them off, so that Duryodhana carried the maiden home to Hastinapura.
