Yudhishthira Assigns Offices

Answering the people's words, Yudhishthira says that the sons of Pandu are blessed to be praised by brahmins, and asks the assembly to treat Dhritarashtra, to whom he owes obedience, as before. He dismisses the townsmen and country folk, makes Bhima heir apparent, and assigns Vidura to counsel, Sanjaya to accounts, Nakula to the army, Arjuna to the defence against enemies, Dhaumya to the rites, and Sahadeva to guard him. He tells Vidura, Sanjaya and Yuyutsu to serve Dhritarashtra and the people's affairs diligently.
