Nahusha Yokes the Sages to His Car
Indra tells Shachi that this is no time for force and gives her a secret plan: she is to ask Nahusha to come to her in a carriage borne by sages. Nahusha, flattered, boasts of his power and yokes the seven sages and the brahmin sages to his car. Shachi, her time running out, begs Brihaspati to find Indra; he assures her that Nahusha is already doomed and performs a fire rite, and Agni searches the whole world but dares not enter the waters, from which he himself was born.

The sages have made him strong with offerings to the gods and to the ancestors, radiant lady. I will devise a plan in this matter; you must carry it out, goddess.
