Skandha 3 · Chapter 15
Description of the Kingdom of God
Verse 1 (bhagavata.3.15.1)
maitreya uvāca prājāpatyaṁ tu tat tejaḥ para-tejo-hanaṁ ditiḥ dadhāra varṣāṇi śataṁ śaṅkamānā surārdanāt
Maitreya said: Diti bore that seed of the great Prajāpati, powerful enough to destroy even others' prowess, for a hundred years, fearing that it would trouble the demigods.
Verse 2 (bhagavata.3.15.2)
loke tenāhatāloke loka-pālā hataujasaḥ nyavedayan viśva-sṛje dhvānta-vyatikaraṁ diśām
Deprived of light in this world by the force of that pregnancy, and their prowess diminished, the guardians of the various planets informed the creator of the universe of the encroaching darkness in all directions.
Verse 3 (bhagavata.3.15.3)
devā ūcuḥ tama etad vibho vettha saṁvignā yad vayaṁ bhṛśam na hy avyaktaṁ bhagavataḥ kālenāspṛṣṭa-vartmanaḥ
The demigods said: O powerful one, you surely know this darkness, for we are exceedingly disturbed by it; indeed nothing remains unmanifest to you, whose path is never touched by time.
Verse 4 (bhagavata.3.15.4)
deva-deva jagad-dhātar lokanātha-śikhāmaṇe pareṣām apareṣāṁ tvaṁ bhūtānām asi bhāva-vit
O god of gods, O sustainer of the universe, O crest-jewel of the lords of all worlds, you alone know the intentions of all beings, both of the spiritual and of the material realms.
Verse 5 (bhagavata.3.15.5)
namo vijñāna-vīryāya māyayedam upeyuṣe gṛhīta-guṇa-bhedāya namas te ’vyakta-yonaye
Obeisances unto you, the source of true knowledge and strength, who have, by your own potency of illusion, accepted this body composed of the differentiated mode of passion; obeisances unto you, the unmanifest source of all.
Verse 6 (bhagavata.3.15.6)
ye tvānanyena bhāvena bhāvayanty ātma-bhāvanam ātmani prota-bhuvanaṁ paraṁ sad-asad-ātmakam
Those who, with undeviating devotion, meditate upon you, the generator of all living beings — within whose own self all the worlds are woven, you who are the supreme cause both of effect and of cause —
Verse 7 (bhagavata.3.15.7)
teṣāṁ supakva-yogānāṁ jita-śvāsendriyātmanām labdha-yuṣmat-prasādānāṁ na kutaścit parābhavaḥ
for those mature yogis, who have conquered their breath, senses and mind, and who have attained your grace, there is never any defeat, anywhere.
Verse 8 (bhagavata.3.15.8)
yasya vācā prajāḥ sarvā gāvas tantyeva yantritāḥ haranti balim āyattās tasmai mukhyāya te namaḥ
By whose word all living beings, like bulls tethered by a rope, are directed, and, thus controlled, offer their tribute — unto him, the chief of all, unto you, our obeisances.
Verse 9 (bhagavata.3.15.9)
sa tvaṁ vidhatsva śaṁ bhūmaṁs tamasā lupta-karmaṇām adabhra-dayayā dṛṣṭyā āpannān arhasīkṣitum
O great one, grant good fortune to us, whose prescribed duties have been suspended by this darkness; with your boundless mercy, kindly look upon us who have surrendered unto you.
Verse 10 (bhagavata.3.15.10)
eṣa deva diter garbha ojaḥ kāśyapam arpitam diśas timirayan sarvā vardhate ’gnir ivaidhasi
This, O lord, is the womb of Diti, the seed deposited in her by Kaśyapa, darkening all directions, growing ever greater — like a fire fed with fuel.
Verse 11 (bhagavata.3.15.11)
maitreya uvāca sa prahasya mahā-bāho bhagavān śabda-gocaraḥ pratyācaṣṭātma-bhūr devān prīṇan rucirayā girā
Maitreya said: O mighty-armed one, smiling, the self-born, powerful Brahmā, who is comprehended through transcendental sound, replied to the demigods, pleasing them with his sweet words.
Verse 12 (bhagavata.3.15.12)
brahmovāca mānasā me sutā yuṣmat- pūrvajāḥ sanakādayaḥ cerur vihāyasā lokāl lokeṣu vigata-spṛhāḥ
Brahmā said: My mind-born sons, Sanaka and the others, born before you, roamed through the worlds, flying through the sky, desiring nothing among the peoples of any world.
Verse 13 (bhagavata.3.15.13)
ta ekadā bhagavato vaikuṇṭhasyāmalātmanaḥ yayur vaikuṇṭha-nilayaṁ sarva-loka-namaskṛtam
Once they went to the abode of the Personality of Godhead Viṣṇu, the stainless Vaikuṇṭha Himself, that abode named Vaikuṇṭha, worshiped by the inhabitants of all worlds.
Verse 14 (bhagavata.3.15.14)
vasanti yatra puruṣāḥ sarve vaikuṇṭha-mūrtayaḥ ye ’nimitta-nimittena dharmeṇārādhayan harim
There dwell persons, all in forms like that of Vaikuṇṭha itself, who worship Hari through devotional service alone, motivated by nothing other than devotion itself.
Verse 15 (bhagavata.3.15.15)
yatra cādyaḥ pumān āste bhagavān śabda-gocaraḥ sattvaṁ viṣṭabhya virajaṁ svānāṁ no mṛḍayan vṛṣaḥ
There also resides the original Person, the Personality of Godhead comprehended through transcendental sound, who, sustaining the stainless mode of goodness, the very personification of righteousness, ever gladdens His own associates and us.
Verse 16 (bhagavata.3.15.16)
yatra naiḥśreyasaṁ nāma vanaṁ kāma-dughair drumaiḥ sarvartu-śrībhir vibhrājat kaivalyam iva mūrtimat
There is a forest named Naiḥśreyasa, resplendent with trees that yield all desires, adorned with the beauty of every season, itself appearing like the personified form of spiritual liberation.
Verse 17 (bhagavata.3.15.17)
vaimānikāḥ sa-lalanāś caritāni śaśvad gāyanti yatra śamala-kṣapaṇāni bhartuḥ antar-jale ’nuvikasan-madhu-mādhavīnāṁ gandhena khaṇḍita-dhiyo ’py anilaṁ kṣipantaḥ
There, flying in their aircraft with their wives, the residents eternally sing the deeds of the Lord that destroy all impurity, even as, their minds distracted by the fragrance of honey-laden mādhavī blossoms opening within the waters, they scorn the very breeze.
Verse 18 (bhagavata.3.15.18)
pārāvatānyabhṛta-sārasa-cakravāka- dātyūha-haṁsa-śuka-tittiri-barhiṇāṁ yaḥ kolāhalo viramate ’cira-mātram uccair bhṛṅgādhipe hari-kathām iva gāyamāne
There the tumult of pigeons, cuckoos, cranes, cakravākas, gallinules, swans, parrots, partridges and peacocks falls silent for a while, when the king of bumblebees begins loudly singing the glories of the Lord.
Verse 19 (bhagavata.3.15.19)
mandāra-kunda-kurabotpala-campakārṇa- punnāga-nāga-bakulāmbuja-pārijātāḥ gandhe ’rcite tulasikābharaṇena tasyā yasmiṁs tapaḥ sumanaso bahu mānayanti
The mandāra, kunda, kuraba, utpala, campaka, arṇa, punnāga, nāgakeśara, bakula, lotus and pārijāta flowers there greatly honor the fragrance of the garland of tulasī offered in worship of that goddess, wherein the pious of good mind dwell.
Verse 20 (bhagavata.3.15.20)
yat saṅkulaṁ hari-padānati-mātra-dṛṣṭair vaidūrya-mārakata-hema-mayair vimānaiḥ yeṣāṁ bṛhat-kaṭi-taṭāḥ smita-śobhi-mukhyaḥ kṛṣṇātmanāṁ na raja ādadhur utsmayādyaiḥ
That abode teems with airplanes made of lapis lazuli, emerald and gold, attained merely by offering obeisances at the feet of Hari; and the broad hips and smiling, radiant faces of the beautiful women there, their minds absorbed in Kṛṣṇa, never arouse lust even through their playful, laughing dealings.
Verse 21 (bhagavata.3.15.21)
śrī rūpiṇī kvaṇayatī caraṇāravindaṁ līlāmbujena hari-sadmani mukta-doṣā saṁlakṣyate sphaṭika-kuḍya upeta-hemni sammārjatīva yad-anugrahaṇe ’nya-yatnaḥ
The goddess of fortune herself, taking on a beautiful form, freed from all fault, appears there in the house of Hari, playing with a lotus, her tinkling anklets sounding at her lotus feet — seen, as it were, sweeping the crystal walls inlaid with gold, so eager is she to receive His favor, that others strive hard for the same.
Verse 22 (bhagavata.3.15.22)
vāpīṣu vidruma-taṭāsv amalāmṛtāpsu preṣyānvitā nija-vane tulasībhir īśam abhyarcatī svalakam unnasam īkṣya vaktram uccheṣitaṁ bhagavatety amatāṅga yac-chrīḥ
In the pools with coral banks and pure, nectarean waters, surrounded by her maidservants, she worships the Lord in her own garden with tulasī, seeing His face — nose upraised, well-adorned — and thinking, O demigods, whose very beauty is this that has now been kissed by the Lord.
Verse 23 (bhagavata.3.15.23)
yan na vrajanty agha-bhido racanānuvādāc chṛṇvanti ye ’nya-viṣayāḥ kukathā mati-ghnīḥ yās tu śrutā hata-bhagair nṛbhir ātta-sārās tāṁs tān kṣipanty aśaraṇeṣu tamaḥsu hanta
Those who never approach that abode of the destroyer of sin, but instead listen to bad, mind-destroying tales on other subjects — the very lifeblood of such unfortunate men, once heard, is taken away, and, alas, they are cast into that darkness devoid of any refuge.
Verse 24 (bhagavata.3.15.24)
ye ’bhyarthitām api ca no nṛ-gatiṁ prapannā jñānaṁ ca tattva-viṣayaṁ saha-dharmaṁ yatra nārādhanaṁ bhagavato vitaranty amuṣya sammohitā vitatayā bata māyayā te
Those who, having attained the human form of life so eagerly sought even by us, along with knowledge of the Absolute Truth and its accompanying religious principles, still fail to worship the Personality of Godhead — alas, they are bewildered by His all-pervading illusory potency.
Verse 25 (bhagavata.3.15.25)
yac ca vrajanty animiṣām ṛṣabhānuvṛttyā dūre yamā hy upari naḥ spṛhaṇīya-śīlāḥ bhartur mithaḥ suyaśasaḥ kathanānurāga- vaiklavya-bāṣpa-kalayā pulakī-kṛtāṅgāḥ
But to that abode go those whose good conduct is desired even by us, who follow in the footsteps of the chief of the unblinking demigods, keeping the regulative principles far above their own reach, their bodies horripilating with tears of ecstatic love as they discourse together on the glories of the Lord.
Verse 26 (bhagavata.3.15.26)
tad viśva-gurv-adhikṛtaṁ bhuvanaika-vandyaṁ divyaṁ vicitra-vibudhāgrya-vimāna-śociḥ āpuḥ parāṁ mudam apūrvam upetya yoga- māyā-balena munayas tad atho vikuṇṭham
Then, having attained by the power of yogic potency that spiritual, supremely worshipable Vaikuṇṭha, presided over by the teacher of the universe, alone worthy of worship by all the worlds, resplendent with the brilliant, varied airplanes of the foremost devotees, the sages attained supreme, unprecedented joy.
Verse 27 (bhagavata.3.15.27)
tasminn atītya munayaḥ ṣaḍ asajjamānāḥ kakṣāḥ samāna-vayasāv atha saptamāyām devāv acakṣata gṛhīta-gadau parārdhya- keyūra-kuṇḍala-kirīṭa-viṭaṅka-veṣau
There, the sages, unattached, passed through six enclosures, and then, at the seventh, beheld two doorkeepers of equal age, mace in hand, adorned with priceless bracelets, earrings, crowns and beautiful garments.
Verse 28 (bhagavata.3.15.28)
matta-dvirepha-vanamālikayā nivītau vinyastayāsita-catuṣṭaya-bāhu-madhye vaktraṁ bhruvā kuṭilayā sphuṭa-nirgamābhyāṁ raktekṣaṇena ca manāg rabhasaṁ dadhānau
Garlanded with fresh flower-garlands swarming with intoxicated bees, hanging between their four dark-hued arms, their faces bearing slightly arched eyebrows, their nostrils flaring somewhat with breath, their reddish eyes betraying a trace of agitation —
Verse 29 (bhagavata.3.15.29)
dvāry etayor niviviśur miṣator apṛṣṭvā pūrvā yathā puraṭa-vajra-kapāṭikā yāḥ sarvatra te ’viṣamayā munayaḥ sva-dṛṣṭyā ye sañcaranty avihatā vigatābhiśaṅkāḥ
Not asking permission, those two, watching, entered through that gate, whose doors were as before, made of gold and set with diamonds; for the sages, seeing everywhere with an unbiased vision of their own, move about unobstructed, free from all doubt.
Verse 30 (bhagavata.3.15.30)
tān vīkṣya vāta-raśanāṁś caturaḥ kumārān vṛddhān daśārdha-vayaso viditātma-tattvān vetreṇa cāskhalayatām atad-arhaṇāṁs tau tejo vihasya bhagavat-pratikūla-śīlau
But seeing them — four boys, clad only in the air, aged though appearing but five years old, who had realized the truth of the self — those two doorkeepers, of a nature displeasing to the Lord, disregarding their glory, obstructed them with their staffs, undeserving of such treatment.
Verse 31 (bhagavata.3.15.31)
tābhyāṁ miṣatsv animiṣeṣu niṣidhyamānāḥ svarhattamā hy api hareḥ pratihāra-pābhyām ūcuḥ suhṛttama-didṛkṣita-bhaṅga īṣat kāmānujena sahasā ta upaplutākṣāḥ
Even the most deserving among all beings, being thus forbidden by those two gatekeepers of Hari, while the ever-vigilant Vaikuṇṭha residents looked on, spoke — their eyes suddenly flooded, agitated by the younger brother of lust, at this slight hindrance to seeing their most beloved friend.
Verse 32 (bhagavata.3.15.32)
munaya ūcuḥ ko vām ihaitya bhagavat-paricaryayoccais tad-dharmiṇāṁ nivasatāṁ viṣamaḥ svabhāvaḥ tasmin praśānta-puruṣe gata-vigrahe vāṁ ko vātmavat kuhakayoḥ pariśaṅkanīyaḥ
The sages said: Who indeed are you two, that, having attained this place through the great service of the Personality of Godhead, along with those righteous ones dwelling here in devotion, now display such discordant behavior? In Him, who is ever peaceful, who has no enemy, who among the trustworthy could suspect duplicity such as yours?
Verse 33 (bhagavata.3.15.33)
na hy antaraṁ bhagavatīha samasta-kukṣāv ātmānam ātmani nabho nabhasīva dhīrāḥ paśyanti yatra yuvayoḥ sura-liṅginoḥ kiṁ vyutpāditaṁ hy udara-bhedi bhayaṁ yato ’sya
For within the Supreme Personality of Godhead, in whose all-encompassing being everything dwells, the wise perceive no difference between the individual self and the Supreme Self — as between a small portion of sky and the sky entire; how then has this bodily distinction, this source of fear, arisen in you two, dressed as you are like residents of heaven?
Verse 34 (bhagavata.3.15.34)
tad vām amuṣya paramasya vikuṇṭha-bhartuḥ kartuṁ prakṛṣṭam iha dhīmahi manda-dhībhyām lokān ito vrajatam antara-bhāva-dṛṣṭyā pāpīyasas traya ime ripavo ’sya yatra
Therefore, since you two, of dull intelligence, have offended the Supreme Lord of Vaikuṇṭha Himself, let us consider what is truly best for you in this matter — go from here to the material worlds, where, on account of this vision of duality, dwell the three most sinful enemies of every living being.
Verse 35 (bhagavata.3.15.35)
teṣām itīritam ubhāv avadhārya ghoraṁ taṁ brahma-daṇḍam anivāraṇam astra-pūgaiḥ sadyo harer anucarāv uru bibhyatas tat- pāda-grahāv apatatām atikātareṇa
Both doorkeepers, understanding that terrible curse of the brāhmaṇas, uttered thus, uncounterable by any array of weapons — devotees of Hari as they were, greatly afraid — at once, in utmost distress, fell down clutching their feet.
Verse 36 (bhagavata.3.15.36)
bhūyād aghoni bhagavadbhir akāri daṇḍo yo nau hareta sura-helanam apy aśeṣam mā vo ’nutāpa-kalayā bhagavat-smṛti-ghno moho bhaved iha tu nau vrajator adho ’dhaḥ
May the punishment that you, most worshipable ones, have inflicted for this sin — the boundless offense of disrespecting demigods — remain upon us; but let not this bewilderment, born of a little repentance, destroy our memory of the Lord as we go, ever further down, into this lower existence.
Verse 37 (bhagavata.3.15.37)
evaṁ tadaiva bhagavān aravinda-nābhaḥ svānāṁ vibudhya sad-atikramam ārya-hṛdyaḥ tasmin yayau paramahaṁsa-mahā-munīnām anveṣaṇīya-caraṇau calayan saha-śrīḥ
Even at that very moment, the Personality of Godhead, the lotus-naveled Lord, the delight of the righteous, learning of this offense against the great sages by His own servants, went there, moving those feet which even the greatest recluses seek, together with the goddess of fortune.
Verse 38 (bhagavata.3.15.38)
taṁ tv āgataṁ pratihṛtaupayikaṁ sva-pumbhis te ’cakṣatākṣa-viṣayaṁ sva-samādhi-bhāgyam haṁsa-śriyor vyajanayoḥ śiva-vāyu-lolac- chubhrātapatra-śaśi-kesara-śīkarāmbum
The sages then beheld Him coming, His own attendants carrying His paraphernalia, now visible to the eye — that same form once the sole fortune of their own meditation — with two swan-white cāmaras waving, a white umbrella swaying in the favorable breeze, and drops of water sprinkled like pearls from a moon-white fringe.
Verse 39 (bhagavata.3.15.39)
kṛtsna-prasāda-sumukhaṁ spṛhaṇīya-dhāma snehāvaloka-kalayā hṛdi saṁspṛśantam śyāme pṛthāv urasi śobhitayā śriyā svaś- cūḍāmaṇiṁ subhagayantam ivātma-dhiṣṇyam
His face, gracious with blessing for all, that desirable abode, touching their hearts through the outpouring of His affectionate glance; upon His broad, dark chest, adorned with the goddess of fortune's beauty, He shone like the crest-jewel of heaven, bestowing good fortune upon His own abode.
Verse 40 (bhagavata.3.15.40)
pītāṁśuke pṛthu-nitambini visphurantyā kāñcyālibhir virutayā vana-mālayā ca valgu-prakoṣṭha-valayaṁ vinatā-sutāṁse vinyasta-hastam itareṇa dhunānam abjam
Clad in a yellow garment upon His broad hips, shining with a girdle, adorned with a garland of fresh flowers humming with bees, His lovely wrists bangled, one hand resting upon the shoulder of Garuḍa, the son of Vinatā, the other twirling a lotus.
Verse 41 (bhagavata.3.15.41)
vidyut-kṣipan-makara-kuṇḍala-maṇḍanārha- gaṇḍa-sthalonnasa-mukhaṁ maṇimat-kirīṭam dor-daṇḍa-ṣaṇḍa-vivare haratā parārdhya- hāreṇa kandhara-gatena ca kaustubhena
His countenance, with cheeks and prominent nose fit to be adorned by alligator-shaped earrings that outshone even lightning, His crown studded with gems, and, adorning the space between His four mighty arms, a most precious necklace, and, resting upon His neck, the Kaustubha jewel.
Verse 42 (bhagavata.3.15.42)
atropasṛṣṭam iti cotsmitam indirāyāḥ svānāṁ dhiyā viracitaṁ bahu-sauṣṭhavāḍhyam mahyaṁ bhavasya bhavatāṁ ca bhajantam aṅgaṁ nemur nirīkṣya na vitṛpta-dṛśo mudā kaiḥ
This form, thought of by His own devotees, richly adorned with manifold graceful beauty, said to have humbled even the pride of Indira's own smile — worshiped by me, by Śiva and by all of you — seeing it, they, their eyes never satiated, bowed down their heads in joy beyond measure.
Verse 43 (bhagavata.3.15.43)
tasyāravinda-nayanasya padāravinda- kiñjalka-miśra-tulasī-makaranda-vāyuḥ antar-gataḥ sva-vivareṇa cakāra teṣāṁ saṅkṣobham akṣara-juṣām api citta-tanvoḥ
The breeze, laden with the fragrance of the honey of tulasī mixed with the pollen of the lotus feet of that lotus-eyed Lord, entering through their nostrils, brought about in those sages, even though absorbed in the impersonal Brahman, an agitation in both mind and body.
Verse 44 (bhagavata.3.15.44)
te vā amuṣya vadanāsita-padma-kośam udvīkṣya sundaratarādhara-kunda-hāsam labdhāśiṣaḥ punar avekṣya tadīyam aṅghri- dvandvaṁ nakhāruṇa-maṇi-śrayaṇaṁ nidadhyuḥ
Gazing up at the inner whorl of His dark, lotus-like face, and at His smile, more beautiful than the jasmine flower playing upon His lips, having attained their heart's desire, they then looked down again and fixed their meditation upon His pair of feet, whose sheltering nails shone red as rubies.
Verse 45 (bhagavata.3.15.45)
puṁsāṁ gatiṁ mṛgayatām iha yoga-mārgair dhyānāspadaṁ bahu-mataṁ nayanābhirāmam pauṁsnaṁ vapur darśayānam ananya-siddhair autpattikaiḥ samagṛṇan yutam aṣṭa-bhogaiḥ
That destination sought by those who search for liberation here through the paths of yoga, the object of meditation approved by the great, pleasing to the eyes — displaying a human-like form, endowed with the eight unprecedented, eternally present mystic perfections not achieved by others, they extolled together.
Verse 46 (bhagavata.3.15.46)
kumārā ūcuḥ yo ’ntarhito hṛdi gato ’pi durātmanāṁ tvaṁ so ’dyaiva no nayana-mūlam ananta rāddhaḥ yarhy eva karṇa-vivareṇa guhāṁ gato naḥ pitrānuvarṇita-rahā bhavad-udbhavena
The Kumāras said: O unlimited one, You who, though unseen, dwell within the heart even of the wicked — You have today truly appeared before our very eyes, since through the passage of our ears You have entered the cave of our intelligence, the mystery so described by our father, through Your own manifestation.
Verse 47 (bhagavata.3.15.47)
taṁ tvāṁ vidāma bhagavan param ātma-tattvaṁ sattvena samprati ratiṁ racayantam eṣām yat te ’nutāpa-viditair dṛḍha-bhakti-yogair udgranthayo hṛdi vidur munayo virāgāḥ
We now know You, O Personality of Godhead, that Supreme Truth about the self, now creating within these devotees, through Your form of pure goodness, their love for You — that which the sages, freed from material bonds and detached, come to know within the heart, through steadfast devotional service born of Your own mercy.
Verse 48 (bhagavata.3.15.48)
nātyantikaṁ vigaṇayanty api te prasādaṁ kimv anyad arpita-bhayaṁ bhruva unnayais te ye ’ṅga tvad-aṅghri-śaraṇā bhavataḥ kathāyāḥ kīrtanya-tīrtha-yaśasaḥ kuśalā rasa-jñāḥ
Those devotees who have taken shelter of Your lotus feet, O Lord, skilled connoisseurs of the mellows of Your pure and sacred glories, worth chanting — they do not even care for the boon of liberation itself, let alone the mere raising of Your eyebrow that grants fearlessness, what then of other material happiness?
Verse 49 (bhagavata.3.15.49)
kāmaṁ bhavaḥ sva-vṛjinair nirayeṣu naḥ stāc ceto ’livad yadi nu te padayo rameta vācaś ca nas tulasivad yadi te ’ṅghri-śobhāḥ pūryeta te guṇa-gaṇair yadi karṇa-randhraḥ
Let our own sinful deeds bring upon us birth as deserved, even in the lowest hells, if only our minds, like bees, may find their delight at Your two feet; if only our words may be as the tulasī, adorning Your feet with their beauty; and if only the hollow of our ears may ever be filled with Your transcendental qualities.
Verse 50 (bhagavata.3.15.50)
prāduścakartha yad idaṁ puruhūta rūpaṁ teneśa nirvṛtim avāpur alaṁ dṛśo naḥ tasmā idaṁ bhagavate nama id vidhema yo ’nātmanāṁ durudayo bhagavān pratītaḥ
O greatly worshiped one, that You have manifested this very form has brought full satisfaction to our vision, O Lord; unto Him alone let us offer this our obeisance — that Personality of Godhead so difficult to behold for the less intelligent, whom we have now beheld with our own eyes.
