vyāsa uvāca | eka eva mahārāja tatropāyo'sti nāparaḥ | sarvadoṣanirāsārthaṁ dhyāyeddevīpadāmbujam

Vyasa said: 'There is, O great king, one single remedy for this, and no other; for the removal of every fault, one should meditate upon the lotus feet of the Goddess.'

Verse 58 (devibhagavatam.6.11.58)

na santyaghāni tāvanti yāvatī śaktirasti hi | nāsti devyāḥ pāpadāhe tasmādbhītiḥ kuto nṛpa

'Sins are not as numerous as the power that truly exists to counter them; the Goddess feels no hesitation whatsoever in burning away sin — so from where, O king, could any fear arise?'

Verse 59 (devibhagavatam.6.11.59)

avaśenāpi yannāma līlayoccāritaṁ yadi | kiṁ kiṁ dadāti tajjñātuṁ samarthā na harādayaḥ

'If her very name is uttered even unintentionally, even in mere play, what it grants — even Hara and the other gods are not capable of fully knowing.'

Verse 60 (devibhagavatam.6.11.60)

prāyaścittaṁ tu pāpānāṁ śrīdevīnāmasaṁsmṛtiḥ | tasmātkalibhayādrājan puṇyakṣetre vasennaraḥ

'The true expiation for sins is simply the remembrance of Shri Devi's name; therefore, out of fear of Kali, O king, a man should dwell in a sacred place.'

Verse 61 (devibhagavatam.6.11.61)

nirantaraṁ parāmbāyā nāmasaṁsmaraṇaṁ caret | chittvā bhittvā ca bhūtāni hatvā sarvamidaṁ jagat

'One should continually engage in remembrance of the Supreme Mother's name; even one who has cut down, shattered, and destroyed this entire world —'

Verse 62 (devibhagavatam.6.11.62)

'— if he bows to the Goddess with devotion, he is not stained by his sins at all. This secret truth of all the scriptures, O king, has now been declared by me.'

Verse 63 (devibhagavatam.6.11.63)

vimṛśyaitadaśeṣeṇa bhaja devīpadāmbujam | ajapāṁ nāma gāyatrīṁ japanti nikhilā janāḥ

'Having weighed this fully, devote yourself to the lotus feet of the Goddess. All people recite the Gayatri known as Ajapa, the "unrecited" recitation —'

Verse 64 (devibhagavatam.6.11.64)

mahimānaṁ na jānanti māyāyā vaibhavaṁ mahat | gāyatrīṁ brāhmaṇāḥ sarve japanti hṛdayāntare

'— yet they do not know its greatness, the vast glory hidden within that maya. All brahmins recite the Gayatri deep within their own hearts —'

Verse 65 (devibhagavatam.6.11.65)

mahimānaṁ na jānanti māyāyā vaibhavaṁ mahat | etatsarvaṁ samākhyātaṁ yatpṛṣṭaṁ tattvayā nṛpa | yugadharmavyavasthāyāṁ kiṁ bhūyaḥ śrotumicchasi

'— yet they do not know its greatness, the great glory of that maya. All this, O king, whatever you asked of me, has now been fully told; what more do you wish to hear concerning the ordinance of the dharma of the yugas?'
