Chapter 78All chaptersChapter 80

Verse 1 (garuda.1.79.1)

. sūta uvāca . kāveravindhyayavanacīnanepālabhūmiṣu . lāṅgalī vyakiranmedo dānavasya prayatnataḥ

Suta said: In the lands of Kaveri, Vindhya, Yavana, China, and Nepal, the plow-bearer scattered the demon's fat with effort.

Verse 2 (garuda.1.79.2)

ākāśaśuddhaṁ tailākhyamutpannaṁ sphaṭikaṁ tataḥ . mṛṇālaśaṅkhadhavalaṁ kiñcidvarṇāntaranvitam

From it arose crystal (sphatika), pure as the sky, called 'taila' (the oily kind) — white as a lotus-stalk or a conch, with some varying hues as well.

Verse 3 (garuda.1.79.3)

na ttulyaṁ hi ratnānāmathavā pāpanāśanam . saṁskṛtaṁ śilpinā sadyo mūlyaṁ kiñcillabhettataḥ (dā)

It is not equal to the other gems, yet it is a destroyer of sin. When refined by a craftsman, it then readily obtains some measure of price.
