Verse 38 (garuda.1.83.38)

gayāyāṁ na hi tatsthānaṁ yatra tīrthaṁ na vidyate pañcakrośe gayākṣetre yatra tatra tu piṇḍadaḥ
In Gaya there is no place where a tirtha does not exist; within the five-krosha field of Gaya, wherever one offers pinda —
Verse 40 (garuda.1.83.40)
akṣayaṁ phalamāpnoti brahmalokaṁ nayetpitṝn janārdanasya haste tu piṇḍaṁ dadyātsvakaṁ naraḥ
one obtains imperishable fruit and leads one's ancestors to the world of Brahma. A man should place his own pinda in the hand of Janardana —
Verse 41 (garuda.1.83.41)
eṣa piṇḍe mayā dattastava haste janārdana ! paralokaṁ gate mokṣamakṣayyamupatiṣṭhatām

brahmalokamavāpnoti pitṛbhiḥ saha niścitam gayāyāṁ dharmapṛṣṭhe ca sarasi brahmaṇastathā
he thereby certainly obtains the world of Brahma together with his ancestors. At Gaya, at Dharmaprishtha, and likewise at the lake of Brahma —

gayāśīrṣe'kṣayavaṭe pitṝṇāṁ dattamakṣayam dharmāraṇyaṁ dharmapṛṣṭhaṁ dhenukāraṇyameva ca
at Gayashirsha, at the Akshayavata, whatever is given to the ancestors becomes imperishable. Dharmaranya, Dharmaprishtha, and Dhenukaranya —
Verse 44 (garuda.1.83.44)
dṛṣṭvaitāni pitṝṁścāryavaṁśyānviṁśatimuddharet brahmāraṇyaṁ mahānadyāḥ paścimobhāga ucyate
having seen these, one delivers twenty noble ancestors of the lineage. Brahmaranya is said to be on the western side of the Mahanadi.
Verse 45 (garuda.1.83.45)

Verse 46 (garuda.1.83.46)
gayāśīrṣāddakṣiṇato mahānadyāśca paścime tatsmṛtaṁ campakavanaṁ tatra pāṇḍuśilāsti hi
South of Gayashirsha and west of the Mahanadi is what is remembered as Champakavana; there indeed is the Pandushila.
Verse 47 (garuda.1.83.47)
śrāddhī tatra tṛtīyāyāṁ niścirāyāśca maṇḍale mahāhrade ca kauśikyāmakṣayaṁ phalamāpnuyāt
One who performs shraddha there on the third lunar day, in the circle of the Nishchira, and at the Mahahrada on the Kaushiki, obtains imperishable fruit.
Verse 48 (garuda.1.83.48)

Verse 49 (garuda.1.83.49)

North of Krauncha-pada is a reservoir called Nishchira, where even a single visit and a single offering of pinda —
Verse 50 (garuda.1.83.50)
durlabhaṁ kiṁ punarnityamasminneva vyavasthitaḥ mahānadyāmupaspṛśya tarpayetpitṛdevatāḥ
grants what is otherwise rare — how much more, then, for one who dwells there always! Having touched the water of the Mahanadi, one should offer tarpana to the ancestor-deities.
Verse 51 (garuda.1.83.51)
akṣayānprāpnuyāllokānkulaṁ cāpi samuddharet sāvitre paṭhyate sandhyā kṛtā syāddvādaśābdikī
By this, imperishable worlds are obtained and the family too is delivered. The twilight-rite performed at Savitra is said to equal twelve years.
Verse 52 (garuda.1.83.52)

Verse 53 (garuda.1.83.53)
