Then another brahmin said: "Kshatriyas, finest among births — they alone shall eat food such as this, brought about by such great merit."

Verse 36 (padma.5.65.36)

tadā taṁ prābravīdvipro dattasya phalamīdṛśam ye dadatyagrajanmabhyaḥ prāpnuvaṁti ta īpsitam

Then a brahmin said to him: "Such indeed is the fruit of giving; those who give to the twice-born attain whatever they desire."

Verse 37 (padma.5.65.37)

yairarcito naiva harirnaivedyairvividhairmuhuḥ teṣāmetādṛśaṁ bhojyaṁ na bhavedakṣigocaram

"Those who have not, time and again, worshipped Hari with offerings of every kind — for them such food never even comes within sight."

Verse 38 (padma.5.65.38)

yairnarairagrajanmāno bhojitā vividhai rasaiḥ bhuṁjate te svādurasaṁ pāpināṁ cakṣurujjhitam

"Those men who have fed the twice-born with dishes of every flavor — they alone enjoy this sweet essence; for sinners it remains forever unseen."

Verse 39 (padma.5.65.39)

evaṁvidhairasairmiṣṭairbhojitā dvijasattamāḥ maṁḍape vipaṭhaṁtaste śabdabrahmavicakṣaṇāḥ

Fed thus with such sweet fare, those foremost brahmins, skilled in the science of sacred sound, reciting there in that pavilion —

nṛtyaṁtyeke hasantyeke nadantyeke praharṣitāḥ utsavo bahurudbhāti tatra śatrughna āgamat

— some began to dance, some to laugh, some, delighted, to shout aloud; a great festival shone forth there, just as Shatrughna arrived.

Verse 41 (padma.5.65.41)

rāmaḥ śatrughnamāyāṁtaṁ puṣkalena samanvitam nirīkṣyamudamudbhūtāṁ rakṣituṁ nāśakattadā

Rama, seeing Shatrughna arriving together with Pushkala, could not that moment contain the joy that welled up within him.

Verse 42 (padma.5.65.42)

yāvaduttiṣṭhate rāmo bhrātaraṁ hayapālakam tāvadrāmapadelagnaḥ śatrughno bhrātṛvatsalaḥ

anyānapi mahābhāgānraghunāthaḥ svayaṁ tadā parirebhe dṛḍhaṁ snigdhānpādayoḥ praṇatānnṛpān

— and other fortunate ones besides, Raghunatha himself embraced firmly, with affection, all those kings bowed at his own feet.

Verse 49 (padma.5.65.49)

sumatiḥ śrīraghupatiṁ bhaktānugrahakārakam parirabhya dṛḍhaṁ prītaḥ saṁmukhe tiṣṭhadunnataḥ

Sumati, embracing Shri Raghupati, gracious as he is to his devotees, firmly and with delight, stood there resolute before him.

Verse 50 (padma.5.65.50)

tadā rāmo nijāmātyaṁ vīkṣya sānnidhyamāgatam uvāca paramaprītyā maṁtriṇaṁ vadatāṁ varaḥ

Then Rama, seeing his own minister come near, said with the greatest affection to that minister, foremost among speakers —

sumate maṁtriṇāṁ śreṣṭha śaṁśa me vāgmināṁ vara ka ete bhūmipāḥ sarve kathamatra samāgatāḥ
