The Praise Offered by the Gods After the Slaying of Taraka

Verse 1 (shiva.rudra.130.1)

ब्रह्मोवाच निहतं तारकं दृष्ट्वा देवा विष्णुपुरोगमाः । तुष्टुवुः शाङ्करिं भक्त्या सर्वेऽन्ये मुदिताननाः

brahmovāca nihataṁ tārakaṁ dṛṣṭvā devā viṣṇupurogamāḥ tuṣṭuvuḥ śāṅkariṁ bhaktyā sarve'nye muditānanāḥ

Seeing Taraka slain, the gods, with Vishnu at their head, praised Shankara's son with devotion, all with joyful faces.

Verse 2 (shiva.rudra.130.2)

देवा ऊचुः । नमः कल्याणरूपाय नमस्ते विश्वमङ्गल । विश्वबन्धो नमस्तेऽस्तु नमस्ते विश्वभावन

devā ūcuḥ namaḥ kalyāṇarūpāya namaste viśvamaṅgala viśvabandho namaste'stu namaste viśvabhāvana

The gods said: Salutations to you of auspicious form, salutations to you, O well-being of the universe. O friend of the universe, salutations be to you; salutations to you, O creator of the universe.

Verse 3 (shiva.rudra.130.3)

नमोस्तु ते दानववर्यहन्त्रे बाणासुरप्राणहराय देव । प्रलम्बनाशाय पवित्ररूपिणे नमोनमः शङ्करतात तुभ्यम्

namostu te dānavavaryahantre bāṇāsuraprāṇaharāya deva pralambanāśāya pavitrarūpiṇe namonamaḥ śaṅkaratāta tubhyam

Salutations to you, slayer of the best of demons, O God who took the life of Bana; salutations, salutations to you, O destroyer of Pralamba, of pure form, O father, son of Shankara.

Verse 4 (shiva.rudra.130.4)

त्वमेव कर्त्ता जगतां च भर्त्ता त्वमेव हर्त्ता शुचिज प्रसीद । प्रपञ्चभूतस्तव लोकबिम्बः प्रसीद शम्भ्वात्मज दीनबन्धो

tvameva karttā jagatāṁ ca bharttā tvameva harttā śucija prasīda prapañcabhūtastava lokabimbaḥ prasīda śambhvātmaja dīnabandho

You alone are the creator, the sustainer, and you alone the destroyer of the worlds, O pure-born one -- be gracious. This visible world is but a reflection of you; be gracious, O son of Shambhu, friend of the wretched.

Verse 5 (shiva.rudra.130.5)

देवरक्षाकर स्वामिन् रक्ष नः सर्वदा प्रभो । देवप्राणावनकर प्रसीद करुणाकर

devarakṣākara svāmin rakṣa naḥ sarvadā prabho devaprāṇāvanakara prasīda karuṇākara

O protector of the gods, O lord, protect us always, O master. O preserver of the gods' very lives, be gracious, O fount of compassion.

Verse 6 (shiva.rudra.130.6)

हत्वा त्वं तारकं दैत्यं परिवारयुतं विभो । मोचिताः सकला देवा विपद्भ्यः परमेश्वर

hatvā tvaṁ tārakaṁ daityaṁ parivārayutaṁ vibho mocitāḥ sakalā devā vipadbhyaḥ parameśvara

Having slain the demon Taraka, together with his followers, O mighty one, all the gods have been freed from calamity, O supreme Lord.

Verse 7 (shiva.rudra.130.7)

ब्रह्मोवाच एवं स्तुतः कुमारोऽसौ देवैर्विष्णुमुखैः प्रभुः । वरान्ददावभिनवान्सर्वेभ्यः क्रमशो मुने

brahmovāca evaṁ stutaḥ kumāro'sau devairviṣṇumukhaiḥ prabhuḥ varāndadāvabhinavānsarvebhyaḥ kramaśo mune

Brahma said: Thus praised by the gods, headed by Vishnu, that lord Kumara, O sage, granted fresh boons to each of them in turn.

Verse 8 (shiva.rudra.130.8)

शैलान्निरीक्ष्य स्तुवतस्ततःस गिरिशात्मजः । सुप्रसन्नतरो भूत्वा प्रोवाच प्रददद्वरान्

śailānnirīkṣya stuvatastataḥsa giriśātmajaḥ suprasannataro bhūtvā provāca pradadadvarān

Then, looking upon the mountains as they praised him, the son of Girisha [Shiva], made most gracious, spoke, granting them boons.

Verse 9 (shiva.rudra.130.9)

स्कन्द उवाच यूयं सर्वे पर्वता हि पूजनीयास्तपस्विभिः । कर्मिभिर्ज्ञानिभिश्चैव सेव्यमाना भविष्यथ

skanda uvāca yūyaṁ sarve parvatā hi pūjanīyāstapasvibhiḥ karmibhirjñānibhiścaiva sevyamānā bhaviṣyatha

Skanda said: All of you mountains shall become worthy of worship by ascetics, and shall be served by both men of ritual action and men of knowledge.

Verse 10 (shiva.rudra.130.10)

शम्भोर्विशिष्टरूपाणि लिङ्गरूपाणि चैव हि । भविष्यथ न सन्देहः पर्वता वचनान्मम

śambhorviśiṣṭarūpāṇi liṅgarūpāṇi caiva hi bhaviṣyatha na sandehaḥ parvatā vacanānmama

By my own word, O mountains, without doubt, you shall become the very special forms of Shambhu, forms in the shape of the linga.

Verse 11 (shiva.rudra.130.11)

योऽयं मातामहो मेऽद्य हिमवान्पर्वतोत्तमः । तपस्विनां महाभागः फलदो हि भविष्यति

yo'yaṁ mātāmaho me'dya himavānparvatottamaḥ tapasvināṁ mahābhāgaḥ phalado hi bhaviṣyati

This Himavan, my own maternal grandfather, best of mountains, most fortunate, shall become a bestower of fruit for ascetics.

Verse 12 (shiva.rudra.130.12)

देवा ऊचुः । एवं दत्त्वा वरान् हत्वा तारकं चासुराधिपम् । त्वया कृताश्च सुखिनो वयं सर्वे चराचराः

devā ūcuḥ evaṁ dattvā varān hatvā tārakaṁ cāsurādhipam tvayā kṛtāśca sukhino vayaṁ sarve carācarāḥ

The gods said: Having thus granted boons, and having slain Taraka, lord of the demons, you have made us all, moving and unmoving, happy.

Verse 13 (shiva.rudra.130.13)

इदानीं खलु सुप्रीत्या कैलासं गिरिशालयम् । जननी जनकौ द्रष्टुं शिवाशम्भू त्वमर्हसि

idānīṁ khalu suprītyā kailāsaṁ giriśālayam jananī janakau draṣṭuṁ śivāśambhū tvamarhasi

Now indeed, with great love, you should go to see your father and mother, Shiva and Shambhu, at Kailasa, the abode of Girisha.

Verse 14 (shiva.rudra.130.14)

ब्रह्मोवाच इत्युक्त्वा निखिला देवा विष्ण्वाद्याः प्राप्तशासनाः । कृत्वा महोत्सवं भूरि सकुमारा ययुर्गिरिम्

brahmovāca ityuktvā nikhilā devā viṣṇvādyāḥ prāptaśāsanāḥ kṛtvā mahotsavaṁ bhūri sakumārā yayurgirim

Brahma said: Having said this, all the gods, headed by Vishnu, having received his command, and having held a great and abundant festival, went with Kumara toward the mountain.

Verse 15 (shiva.rudra.130.15)

कुमारे गच्छति विभौ कैलासं शङ्करालयम् । महामङ्गलमुत्तस्थौ जयशब्दो बभूव ह

kumāre gacchati vibhau kailāsaṁ śaṅkarālayam mahāmaṅgalamuttasthau jayaśabdo babhūva ha

As the mighty Kumara went toward Kailasa, Shankara's abode, great auspicious sounds arose, and shouts of victory rang out.

Verse 16 (shiva.rudra.130.16)

आरुरोह कुमारोऽसौ विमानं परमर्द्धिमत् । सर्वतोलङ्कृतं रम्यं सर्वोपरि विराजितम्

āruroha kumāro'sau vimānaṁ paramarddhimat sarvatolaṅkṛtaṁ ramyaṁ sarvopari virājitam

Kumara mounted a supremely splendid aerial chariot, adorned on every side, beautiful, resplendent above all.

Verse 17 (shiva.rudra.130.17)

अहं विष्णुश्च समुदौ तदा चामरधारिणौ । गुह मूर्ध्नि महाप्रीत्या मुनेऽभूवं ह्यतन्द्रितौ

ahaṁ viṣṇuśca samudau tadā cāmaradhāriṇau guha mūrdhni mahāprītyā mune'bhūvaṁ hyatandritau

I and Vishnu, together, then bore fly-whisks with great love, O sage, tirelessly, over Guha's head.

Verse 18 (shiva.rudra.130.18)

इन्द्राद्या अमराः सर्वे कुर्वन्तो गुहसेवनम् । यथोचितं चतुर्दिक्षु जग्मुश्च प्रमुदास्तदा

indrādyā amarāḥ sarve kurvanto guhasevanam yathocitaṁ caturdikṣu jagmuśca pramudāstadā

Indra and all the other immortal gods, rendering service to Guha, went, delighted, each to his proper place in the four directions.

Verse 19 (shiva.rudra.130.19)

शम्भोर्जयं प्रभाषन्तः प्रापुस्ते शम्भुपर्वतम् । सानन्दा विविशुस्तत्रोच्चरितो मङ्गलध्वनिः

śambhorjayaṁ prabhāṣantaḥ prāpuste śambhuparvatam sānandā viviśustatroccarito maṅgaladhvaniḥ

Proclaiming Shambhu's victory, they reached Shambhu's mountain, and, filled with joy, they entered it, while auspicious sounds resounded aloud.

Verse 20 (shiva.rudra.130.20)

दृष्ट्वा शिवं शिवां चैव सर्वे विष्ण्वादयो द्रुतम् । प्रणम्य शङ्करं भक्त्या करौ बद्ध्वा विनम्रकाः

dṛṣṭvā śivaṁ śivāṁ caiva sarve viṣṇvādayo drutam praṇamya śaṅkaraṁ bhaktyā karau baddhvā vinamrakāḥ

Seeing Shiva and Shiva [Parvati], all of them, headed by Vishnu, swiftly bowed to Shankara with devotion, joining their hands, humbly.

Verse 21 (shiva.rudra.130.21)

कुमारोऽपि विनीतात्मा विमानादवतीर्य च । प्रणनाम मुदा शम्भुं शिवां सिंहासनस्थिताम्

kumāro'pi vinītātmā vimānādavatīrya ca praṇanāma mudā śambhuṁ śivāṁ siṁhāsanasthitām

Kumara too, humble of heart, descended from his chariot, and joyfully bowed to Shambhu and to Shiva [Parvati], seated upon her throne.

Verse 22 (shiva.rudra.130.22)

अथ दृष्ट्वा कुमारं तं तनयं प्राणवल्लभम् । तौ दम्पती शिवौ देवौ मुमुदातेऽति नारद

atha dṛṣṭvā kumāraṁ taṁ tanayaṁ prāṇavallabham tau dampatī śivau devau mumudāte'ti nārada

Then, O Narada, seeing that son Kumara, dearer to them than life itself, that divine couple, Shiva and Shiva [Parvati], rejoiced exceedingly.

Verse 23 (shiva.rudra.130.23)

महाप्रभुःसमुत्थाप्य तमुत्सङ्गे न्यवेशयत् । मूर्ध्नि जघ्रौ मुदा स्नेहात्तं पस्पर्श करेण ह

mahāprabhuḥsamutthāpya tamutsaṅge nyaveśayat mūrdhni jaghrau mudā snehāttaṁ pasparśa kareṇa ha

The great Lord raised him up and set him upon his lap; with love and joy he smelled his head, and touched him with his hand.

Verse 24 (shiva.rudra.130.24)

महानन्दभरः शम्भुश्चकार मुखचुम्बनम् । कुमारस्य महास्नेहात् तारकारेर्महाप्रभोः

mahānandabharaḥ śambhuścakāra mukhacumbanam kumārasya mahāsnehāt tārakārermahāprabhoḥ

Shambhu, overflowing with great bliss, kissed the face of Kumara -- that great lord, enemy of Taraka -- out of deep love.

Verse 25 (shiva.rudra.130.25)

शिवापि तं समुत्थाप्य स्वोत्सङ्गे संन्यवेशयत् । कृत्वा मूर्ध्नि महास्नेहात् तन्मुखाब्जं चुचुम्ब हि

śivāpi taṁ samutthāpya svotsaṅge saṁnyaveśayat kṛtvā mūrdhni mahāsnehāt tanmukhābjaṁ cucumba hi

Shiva [Parvati] too raised him up and set him upon her own lap; with deep love she smelled his head and kissed his lotus face.

Verse 26 (shiva.rudra.130.26)

तयोस्तदा महामोदो ववृधेऽतीव नारद । दम्पत्योः शिवयोस्तात भवाचारं प्रकुर्वतोः

tayostadā mahāmodo vavṛdhe'tīva nārada dampatyoḥ śivayostāta bhavācāraṁ prakurvatoḥ

Then, O Narada, the great joy of that couple, Shiva and Shiva [Parvati], grew exceedingly, O dear one, as they performed the ways of ordinary worldly affection.

Verse 27 (shiva.rudra.130.27)

तदोत्सवो महानासीन्नानाश्चर्यः शिवालये । जयशब्दो नमश्शब्दो बभूवातीव सर्वतः

tadotsavo mahānāsīnnānāścaryaḥ śivālaye jayaśabdo namaśśabdo babhūvātīva sarvataḥ

Then a great festival, full of many wonders, took place in Shiva's abode; and cries of 'Victory!' and 'Salutations!' resounded everywhere.

Verse 28 (shiva.rudra.130.28)

ततःसुरगणाः सर्वे विष्ण्वाद्या मुनयस्तथा । सुप्रणम्य मुदा शम्भुं तुष्टुवुः सशिवं मुने

tataḥsuragaṇāḥ sarve viṣṇvādyā munayastathā supraṇamya mudā śambhuṁ tuṣṭuvuḥ saśivaṁ mune

Then, O sage, all the hosts of gods, headed by Vishnu, and the sages too, having bowed to Shambhu with joy, praised him together with Shiva [Parvati].

Verse 29 (shiva.rudra.130.29)

देवा ऊचुः । देवदेव महादेव भक्तानामभयप्रद । नमो नमस्ते बहुशः कृपाकर महेश्वर

devā ūcuḥ devadeva mahādeva bhaktānāmabhayaprada namo namaste bahuśaḥ kṛpākara maheśvara

The gods said: O God of gods, O Mahadeva, O giver of fearlessness to your devotees -- salutations, salutations to you again and again, O fount of grace, Maheshvara.

Verse 30 (shiva.rudra.130.30)

अद्भुता ते महादेव महालीला सुखप्रदा । सर्वेषां शङ्कर सतां दीनबन्धो महाप्रभो

adbhutā te mahādeva mahālīlā sukhapradā sarveṣāṁ śaṅkara satāṁ dīnabandho mahāprabho

Wondrous, O Mahadeva, is your great sport, bestowing happiness on all the righteous, O Shankara, friend of the wretched, great lord.

Verse 31 (shiva.rudra.130.31)

एवं मूढधियश्चाज्ञाः पूजायां ते सनातनम् । आवाहनं न जानीमो गतिं नैव प्रभोद्भुताम्

evaṁ mūḍhadhiyaścājñāḥ pūjāyāṁ te sanātanam āvāhanaṁ na jānīmo gatiṁ naiva prabhodbhutām

We, of dull mind and ignorant, do not know how eternally to invoke you in worship, nor your wondrous course, O Lord.

Verse 32 (shiva.rudra.130.32)

गङ्गासलिलधाराय ह्याधाराय गुणात्मने । नमस्ते त्रिदशेशाय शङ्कराय नमोनमः

gaṅgāsaliladhārāya hyādhārāya guṇātmane namaste tridaśeśāya śaṅkarāya namonamaḥ

To you, the very stream of the Ganga's waters, the support of all, the self whose nature is the [three] gunas -- salutations to you, Lord of the thirty gods, salutations, salutations to Shankara.

Verse 33 (shiva.rudra.130.33)

वृषाङ्काय महेशाय गणानां पतये नमः । सर्वेश्वराय देवाय त्रिलोकपतये नमः

vṛṣāṅkāya maheśāya gaṇānāṁ pataye namaḥ sarveśvarāya devāya trilokapataye namaḥ

Salutations to him whose emblem is the bull, to Mahesha, to the lord of the ganas; salutations to the God who is Lord of all, the lord of the three worlds.

Verse 34 (shiva.rudra.130.34)

संहर्त्रे जगतां नाथ सर्वेषां ते नमो नमः । भर्त्रे कर्त्रे च देवेश त्रिगुणेशाय शाश्वते

saṁhartre jagatāṁ nātha sarveṣāṁ te namo namaḥ bhartre kartre ca deveśa triguṇeśāya śāśvate

Salutations, salutations to you, O Lord, destroyer of all the worlds; O Lord of gods, sustainer and creator, lord of the three gunas, eternal.

Verse 35 (shiva.rudra.130.35)

विसङ्गाय परेशाय शिवाय परमात्मने । निष्प्रपञ्चाय शुद्धाय परमायाव्ययाय च

visaṅgāya pareśāya śivāya paramātmane niṣprapañcāya śuddhāya paramāyāvyayāya ca

To the unattached one, to the Supreme Lord, to Shiva, to the Supreme Self; to the one beyond all manifestation, the pure, the supreme, the imperishable.

Verse 36 (shiva.rudra.130.36)

दण्डहस्ताय कालाय पाशहस्ताय ते नमः । वेदमन्त्रप्रधानाय शतजिह्वाय ते नमः

daṇḍahastāya kālāya pāśahastāya te namaḥ vedamantrapradhānāya śatajihvāya te namaḥ

Salutations to you who bear the staff, who are Time itself, who bear the noose in your hand; salutations to you, chief of the Vedic mantras, of a hundred tongues.

Verse 37 (shiva.rudra.130.37)

भूतं भव्यं भविष्यं च स्थावरं जङ्गमं च यत् । तव देहात्समुत्पन्नं सर्वथा परमेश्वर

bhūtaṁ bhavyaṁ bhaviṣyaṁ ca sthāvaraṁ jaṅgamaṁ ca yat tava dehātsamutpannaṁ sarvathā parameśvara

O supreme Lord, whatever has been, whatever is, and whatever shall be, whatever is fixed and whatever moves -- all of it has arisen wholly from your very body.

Verse 38 (shiva.rudra.130.38)

पाहि नः सर्वदा स्वामिन्प्रसीद भगवन्प्रभो । वयं ते शरणापन्नाः सर्वथा परमेश्वर

pāhi naḥ sarvadā svāminprasīda bhagavanprabho vayaṁ te śaraṇāpannāḥ sarvathā parameśvara

Protect us always, O lord; be gracious, O blessed master. We have come wholly to your refuge, O supreme Lord.

Verse 39 (shiva.rudra.130.39)

शितिकण्ठाय रुद्राय स्वाहाकाराय ते नमः । अरूपाय सरूपाय विश्वरूपाय ते नमः

śitikaṇṭhāya rudrāya svāhākārāya te namaḥ arūpāya sarūpāya viśvarūpāya te namaḥ

Salutations to you, Shitikantha, Rudra, the very utterance of svaha; salutations to you, formless and yet possessed of form, the form of the universe itself.

Verse 40 (shiva.rudra.130.40)

शिवाय नीलकण्ठाय चिताभस्माङ्गधारिणे । नित्यं नीलशिखण्डाय श्रीकण्ठाय नमोनमः

śivāya nīlakaṇṭhāya citābhasmāṅgadhāriṇe nityaṁ nīlaśikhaṇḍāya śrīkaṇṭhāya namonamaḥ

To Shiva, blue-throated, whose limbs are smeared with the ash of the funeral pyre; to the eternally blue-crested one, to Shrikantha -- salutations, salutations.

Verse 41 (shiva.rudra.130.41)

सर्वप्रणतदेहाय संयमप्रणताय च । महादेवाय शर्वाय सर्वार्चितपदाय च

sarvapraṇatadehāya saṁyamapraṇatāya ca mahādevāya śarvāya sarvārcitapadāya ca

To him before whose body all bow, and who himself bows to self-restraint; to Mahadeva, to Sharva, whose feet are worshipped by all.

Verse 42 (shiva.rudra.130.42)

त्वं ब्रह्मा सर्वदेवानां रुद्राणां नीललोहितः । आत्मा च सर्वभूतानां साङ्ख्यैः पुरुष उच्यसे

tvaṁ brahmā sarvadevānāṁ rudrāṇāṁ nīlalohitaḥ ātmā ca sarvabhūtānāṁ sāṅkhyaiḥ puruṣa ucyase

You are Brahma among all the gods, the blue-red one among the Rudras; you are the Self of all beings, called by the followers of Sankhya the Purusha.

Verse 43 (shiva.rudra.130.43)

पर्वतानां सुमेरुस्त्वं नक्षत्राणां च चन्द्रमाः । ऋषीणां च वसिष्ठस्त्वं देवानां वासवस्तथा

parvatānāṁ sumerustvaṁ nakṣatrāṇāṁ ca candramāḥ ṛṣīṇāṁ ca vasiṣṭhastvaṁ devānāṁ vāsavastathā

You are Sumeru among mountains, the moon among the stars; you are Vasishtha among the sages, and Vasava [Indra] among the gods.

Verse 44 (shiva.rudra.130.44)

ॐङ्कारस्सर्ववेदानां त्राता भव महेश्वर । त्वं च लोकहितार्थाय भूतानि परिषिञ्चसि

oṁṅkārassarvavedānāṁ trātā bhava maheśvara tvaṁ ca lokahitārthāya bhūtāni pariṣiñcasi

You are the syllable Om of all the Vedas; be our protector, O Maheshvara. For the good of the worlds you pour forth and sustain all beings.

Verse 45 (shiva.rudra.130.45)

महेश्वर महाभाग शुभाशुभनिरीक्षक । आप्यायास्मान्हि देवेश कर्तॄन्वै वचनं तव

maheśvara mahābhāga śubhāśubhanirīkṣaka āpyāyāsmānhi deveśa kartṝnvai vacanaṁ tava

O Maheshvara, most fortunate one, witness of good and evil, nourish us, O Lord of gods, we who carry out your very word.

Verse 46 (shiva.rudra.130.46)

रूपकोटिसहस्रेषु रूपकोटिशतेषु ते । अन्तं गन्तुं न शक्ताः स्म देवदेव नमोऽस्तु ते

rūpakoṭisahasreṣu rūpakoṭiśateṣu te antaṁ gantuṁ na śaktāḥ sma devadeva namo'stu te

Among your thousands of millions of forms, your hundreds of millions of forms, we are unable to reach the end. O God of gods, salutations be to you.

Verse 47 (shiva.rudra.130.47)

ब्रह्मोवाच इति स्तुत्वाऽखिला देवा विष्ण्वाद्याःप्रमुखस्थिताः । मुहुर्मुहुस्सुप्रणम्य स्कन्दं कृत्वा पुरस्सरम्

brahmovāca iti stutvā'khilā devā viṣṇvādyāḥpramukhasthitāḥ muhurmuhussupraṇamya skandaṁ kṛtvā purassaram

Brahma said: Having praised him thus, all the gods, headed by Vishnu, standing in the fore, bowed again and again, placing Skanda before them.

Verse 48 (shiva.rudra.130.48)

देवस्तुतिं समाकर्ण्य शिवःसर्वेश्वरः स्वराट् । सुप्रसन्नो बभूवाथ विजहास दयापरः

devastutiṁ samākarṇya śivaḥsarveśvaraḥ svarāṭ suprasanno babhūvātha vijahāsa dayāparaḥ

Hearing the gods' praise, Shiva, the Lord of all, the self-sovereign, became most gracious, and, given over to compassion, smiled.

Verse 49 (shiva.rudra.130.49)

उवाच सुप्रसन्नात्मा विष्ण्वादीन्सुरसत्तमान् । शङ्करः परमेशानो दीनबन्धुःसतां गतिः

uvāca suprasannātmā viṣṇvādīnsurasattamān śaṅkaraḥ parameśāno dīnabandhuḥsatāṁ gatiḥ

Shankara, the Supreme Ruler, friend of the wretched, the very goal of the righteous, with a most gracious heart, spoke to Vishnu and the other foremost gods.

Verse 50 (shiva.rudra.130.50)

शिव उवाच हे हरे हे विधे देवा वाक्यं मे शृणुतादरात् । सर्वथाऽहं सतां त्राता देवानां वः कृपानिधिः

śiva uvāca he hare he vidhe devā vākyaṁ me śṛṇutādarāt sarvathā'haṁ satāṁ trātā devānāṁ vaḥ kṛpānidhiḥ

Shiva said: O Hari, O Vidhi [Brahma], O gods, hear my word with reverence. In every way I am the protector of the righteous, the treasury of grace for you gods.

Verse 51 (shiva.rudra.130.51)

दुष्टहन्ता त्रिलोकेशः शङ्करो भक्तवत्सलः । कर्ता भर्ता च हर्ता च सर्वेषां निर्विकारवान्

duṣṭahantā trilokeśaḥ śaṅkaro bhaktavatsalaḥ kartā bhartā ca hartā ca sarveṣāṁ nirvikāravān

Shankara, destroyer of the wicked, lord of the three worlds, tender to his devotees, is the creator, sustainer, and destroyer of all, and himself beyond all change.

Verse 52 (shiva.rudra.130.52)

यदा यदा भवेद्दुःखं युष्माकं देवसत्तमाः । तदा तदा मां यूयं वै भजन्तु सुखहेतवे

yadā yadā bhavedduḥkhaṁ yuṣmākaṁ devasattamāḥ tadā tadā māṁ yūyaṁ vai bhajantu sukhahetave

Whenever, O foremost of gods, sorrow should befall you, then indeed you should worship me, for the sake of your happiness.

Verse 53 (shiva.rudra.130.53)

ब्रह्मोवाच इत्याज्ञप्तास्तदा देवा विष्ण्वाद्याः समुनीश्वराः । शिवां प्रणम्य सशिवं कुमारं च मुदान्विताः

brahmovāca ityājñaptāstadā devā viṣṇvādyāḥ samunīśvarāḥ śivāṁ praṇamya saśivaṁ kumāraṁ ca mudānvitāḥ

Brahma said: Thus commanded, the gods, headed by Vishnu, together with the lords of sages, filled with joy, bowed to Shiva [Parvati], together with Shiva and Kumara.

Verse 54 (shiva.rudra.130.54)

कथयन्तो यशो रम्यं शिवयोः शाङ्करेश्च तत् । आनन्दं परमं प्राप्य स्वधामानि ययुर्मुने

kathayanto yaśo ramyaṁ śivayoḥ śāṅkareśca tat ānandaṁ paramaṁ prāpya svadhāmāni yayurmune

O sage, speaking of the beautiful glory of that divine couple and of Shankara's son, and having attained supreme bliss, they departed to their own abodes.

Verse 55 (shiva.rudra.130.55)

शिवोऽपि शिवया सार्द्धं सगणः परमेश्वरः । कुमारेणयुतः प्रीत्योवास तस्मिन्गिरौ मुदा

śivo'pi śivayā sārddhaṁ sagaṇaḥ parameśvaraḥ kumāreṇayutaḥ prītyovāsa tasmingirau mudā

Shiva too, the Supreme Lord, together with Shiva [Parvati], with his hosts, together with Kumara, dwelt joyfully and with love upon that mountain.

Verse 56 (shiva.rudra.130.56)

इत्येवं कथितं सर्वं कौमारं चरितं मुने । शैवं च सुखदं दिव्यं किमन्यच्छ्रोतुमिच्छसि

ityevaṁ kathitaṁ sarvaṁ kaumāraṁ caritaṁ mune śaivaṁ ca sukhadaṁ divyaṁ kimanyacchrotumicchasi

Thus, O sage, I have told you the entire divine, joy-bestowing tale of Kumara and of Shiva. What else do you wish to hear?
