Meditated upon by the sons of the Vedic brahmins, he, by a mere roar, swiftly reduced that dweller in Ratnamala to ashes.

Verse 16 (shiva.shatarudra.42.16)

Verse 25 (shiva.shatarudra.42.25)

Verse 40 (shiva.shatarudra.42.40)

For the benefit of the worlds, bearing the very form of a Jyotirlinga, that Shambhu, together with the Mother, remained there — the supreme worker of manifold divine sport.

Verse 45 (shiva.shatarudra.42.45)

taṁ ca gaṅgājalenaiva snāpayiṣyati yo naraḥ rāmeśvaraṁ ca sadbhaktyā sa jīvanmukta eva hi

Whatever man bathes Rameshvara with the very water of the Ganga, with true devotion, he indeed becomes liberated while still living.

Verse 51 (shiva.shatarudra.42.51)

iha bhuktvākhilānbhogāndevatādurllabhānapi ataḥ prāpya paraṁ jñānaṁ kaivalyaṁ mokṣamāpnuyāt

Having here enjoyed every pleasure, even those hard for the gods themselves to attain, he thereafter attains the highest knowledge, and obtains Kaivalya, final liberation.

Verse 52 (shiva.shatarudra.42.52)

Ghushma's son, named Sudeha, who had been slain outright, O sage — Shambhu, well pleased by her devotion, the cherisher of devotees, protected and restored him.

Verse 55 (shiva.shatarudra.42.55)

Prayed to by her, that same Shambhu, the granter of desires, remained there in the lake, in the very form of a Jyotirlinga, under the name Ghushmeshvara.

Verse 56 (shiva.shatarudra.42.56)

Thus has this array of Jyotirlingas been declared to you by me — twelve in number, divine, the bestower of both enjoyment and liberation.

Verse 58 (shiva.shatarudra.42.58)

etāṁ jyotirliṅgakathāṁ yaḥ paṭhecchṛṇuyādapi mucyate sarvapāpebhyo bhuktiṁ muktiṁ ca vindati

Whoever recites, or even merely hears, this account of the Jyotirlingas, is freed from every sin, and attains both enjoyment and liberation.

Verse 59 (shiva.shatarudra.42.59)

śatarudrābhidhā ceyaṁ varṇitā saṁhitā mayā śatāvatārasatkīrtiḥ sarvakāmaphalapradā

Thus has this Samhita, called Shatarudra, been described by me — renowned in truth for its hundred avataras, the bestower of the fruit of every desire.

Verse 60 (shiva.shatarudra.42.60)

imāṁ yaḥ paṭhate nityaṁ śṛṇuyādvā samāhitaḥ sarvānkāmānavāpnoti tato muktiṁ labhed dhruvam

Whoever recites this always, or hears it with a composed mind, obtains all his desires, and thereafter surely attains liberation.
