The Thousand Names of Shiva
Verse 1 (shiva.kotirudra.35.1)
सूत उवाच । श्रूयतां भो ऋषिश्रेष्ठा येन तुष्टो महेश्वरः । तदहं कथयाम्यद्य शैवं नामसहस्रकम् ॥ 35.1 ॥
sūta uvāca śrūyatāṁ bho ṛṣiśreṣṭhā yena tuṣṭo maheśvaraḥ tadahaṁ kathayāmyadya śaivaṁ nāmasahasrakam
Suta said: Listen, O best of sages, to the thousand names of Shiva which I now recount, the very names by which Maheshvara was pleased.
Verse 2 (shiva.kotirudra.35.2)
श्रीविष्णुरुवाच । शिवो हरो मृडो रुद्रः पुष्करः पुष्पलोचनः । अर्थिगम्यः सदाचारः शर्वः शम्भुर्महेश्वरः ॥ 35.2 ॥
śrīviṣṇuruvāca śivo haro mṛḍo rudraḥ puṣkaraḥ puṣpalocanaḥ arthigamyaḥ sadācāraḥ śarvaḥ śambhurmaheśvaraḥ
Shri Vishnu said: Shiva; Hara, the remover; Mrida, the gracious; Rudra, the roarer; Pushkara, the nourisher; Pushpalochana, flower-eyed; Arthigamya, accessible to petitioners; Sadachara, ever of good conduct; Sharva; Shambhu; and Maheshvara, the great lord.
Verse 3 (shiva.kotirudra.35.3)
चन्द्रापीडश्चन्द्रमौलिर्विश्वं विश्वम्भरेश्वरः । वेदान्तसारसन्दोहः कपाली नीललोहितः ॥ 35.3 ॥
candrāpīḍaścandramaulirviśvaṁ viśvambhareśvaraḥ vedāntasārasandohaḥ kapālī nīlalohitaḥ
Chandrapida, crowned with the moon; Chandramauli, moon-crested; Vishva, the universe itself; Vishvambhareshvara, lord who sustains the universe; Vedantasarasandoha, the very essence of the Vedanta; Kapali, bearer of the skull; Nilalohita, of dark-and-ruddy hue.
Verse 4 (shiva.kotirudra.35.4)
ध्यानाधारोऽपरिच्छेद्यो गौरीभर्ता गणेश्वरः । अष्टमूर्तिर्विश्वमूर्तिस्त्रिवर्गस्वर्गसाधनः ॥ 35.4 ॥
dhyānādhāro'paricchedyo gaurībhartā gaṇeśvaraḥ aṣṭamūrtirviśvamūrtistrivargasvargasādhanaḥ
Dhyanadhara, the support of meditation; Aparicchedya, the undivided; Gaurībharta, husband of Gauri; Ganeshvara, lord of the ganas; Ashtamurti, of eight forms; Vishvamurti, whose form is the universe; Trivargasvargasadhana, the means to the three goals of life and to heaven.
Verse 5 (shiva.kotirudra.35.5)
ज्ञानगम्यो दृढप्रज्ञो देवदेवस्त्रिलोचनः । वामदेवो महादेवः पटुः परिवृढो दृढः ॥ 35.5 ॥
jñānagamyo dṛḍhaprajño devadevastrilocanaḥ vāmadevo mahādevaḥ paṭuḥ parivṛḍho dṛḍhaḥ
Jnanagamya, attainable through knowledge; Dridhaprajna, of steadfast wisdom; Devadeva, god of gods; Trilochana, three-eyed; Vamadeva; Mahadeva; Patu, the skillful; Parivridha, the foremost; Dridha, the unshakeable.
Verse 6 (shiva.kotirudra.35.6)
विश्वरूपो विरूपाक्षो वागीशः शुचिसत्तमः । सर्वप्रमाणसंवादी वृषाङ्को वृषवाहनः ॥ 35.6 ॥
viśvarūpo virūpākṣo vāgīśaḥ śucisattamaḥ sarvapramāṇasaṁvādī vṛṣāṅko vṛṣavāhanaḥ
Vishvarupa, of the form of the universe; Virupaksha, of uneven eyes; Vagisha, lord of speech; Shuchisattama, purest of the pure; Sarvapramanasamvadi, consonant with every valid means of knowledge; Vrishanka, marked with the bull; Vrishavahana, whose mount is the bull.
Verse 7 (shiva.kotirudra.35.7)
ईशः पिनाकी खट्वाङ्गी चित्रवेषश्चिरन्तनः । तमोहरो महायोगी गोप्ता ब्रह्मा च धूर्जटिः ॥ 35.7 ॥
īśaḥ pinākī khaṭvāṅgī citraveṣaścirantanaḥ tamoharo mahāyogī goptā brahmā ca dhūrjaṭiḥ
Isha, the lord; Pinaki, bearer of the Pinaka bow; Khatvangi, bearer of the skull-staff; Chitravesha, of wondrous form; Chirantana, the ancient one; Tamohara, dispeller of darkness; Mahayogi, the great yogi; Gopta, the protector; Brahma; Dhurjati, bearer of heavy matted locks.
Verse 8 (shiva.kotirudra.35.8)
कालकालः कृत्तिवासाः सुभगः प्रणवात्मकः । उन्नध्रः पुरुषो जुष्यो दुर्वासाः पुरशासनः ॥ 35.8 ॥
kālakālaḥ kṛttivāsāḥ subhagaḥ praṇavātmakaḥ unnadhraḥ puruṣo juṣyo durvāsāḥ puraśāsanaḥ
Kalakala, the death of death; Krittivasa, clad in an elephant's hide; Subhaga, the fortunate one; Pranavatmaka, whose very self is the syllable Om; Unnadhra, the exalted one; Purusha, the cosmic person; Jushya, the delightful; Durvasa, the austerely clad; Purashasana, chastiser of the demon-cities.
Verse 9 (shiva.kotirudra.35.9)
दिव्यायुधः स्कन्दगुरुः परमेष्ठी परात्परः । अनादिमध्यनिधनो गिरीशो गिरिजाधवः ॥ 35.9 ॥
divyāyudhaḥ skandaguruḥ parameṣṭhī parātparaḥ anādimadhyanidhano girīśo girijādhavaḥ
Divyayudha, bearer of divine weapons; Skandaguru, teacher-father of Skanda; Parameshthi, seated in the highest place; Paratpara, beyond the transcendent; Anadimadhyanidhana, without beginning, middle, or end; Girisha, lord of the mountain; Girijadhava, husband of Girija.
Verse 10 (shiva.kotirudra.35.10)
कुबेरबन्धुः श्रीकण्ठो लोकवर्णोत्तमो मृदुः । समाधिवेद्यः कोदण्डी नीलकण्ठः परश्वधी ॥ 35.10 ॥
kuberabandhuḥ śrīkaṇṭho lokavarṇottamo mṛduḥ samādhivedyaḥ kodaṇḍī nīlakaṇṭhaḥ paraśvadhī
Kuberabandhu, kinsman of Kubera; Shrikantha, of glorious throat; Lokavarnottama, foremost in radiance among the worlds; Mridu, the gentle; Samadhivedya, knowable only through deep meditation; Kodandi, bearer of the bow; Nilakantha, blue-throated; Parashvadhi, bearer of the axe.
Verse 11 (shiva.kotirudra.35.11)
विशालाक्षो मृगव्याधः सुरेशः सूर्यतापनः । धर्मधाम क्षमाक्षेत्रं भगवान् भगनेत्रभित् ॥ 35.11 ॥
viśālākṣo mṛgavyādhaḥ sureśaḥ sūryatāpanaḥ dharmadhāma kṣamākṣetraṁ bhagavān bhaganetrabhit
Vishalaksha, wide-eyed; Mrigavyadha, hunter of the deer; Suresha, lord of the gods; Suryatapana, who scorches through the sun; Dharmadhama, the very abode of dharma; Kshamakshetra, the field of forbearance; Bhagavan, the blessed lord; Bhaganetrabhit, who destroyed Bhaga's eye.
Verse 12 (shiva.kotirudra.35.12)
उग्रः पशुपतिस्तार्क्ष्यः प्रियभक्तः परन्तपः । दाता दयाकरो दक्षः कपर्दी कामशासनः ॥ 35.12 ॥
ugraḥ paśupatistārkṣyaḥ priyabhaktaḥ parantapaḥ dātā dayākaro dakṣaḥ kapardī kāmaśāsanaḥ
Ugra, the fierce; Pashupati, lord of creatures; Tarkshya, swift as Garuda; Priyabhakta, dear to his devotees; Parantapa, scorcher of foes; Data, the giver; Dayakara, the compassionate; Daksha, the skillful; Kapardi, wearing matted locks; Kamashasana, chastiser of Kama.
Verse 13 (shiva.kotirudra.35.13)
श्मशाननिलयः सूक्ष्मः श्मशानस्थो महेश्वरः । लोककर्ता मृगपतिर्महाकर्ता महौषधिः ॥ 35.13 ॥
śmaśānanilayaḥ sūkṣmaḥ śmaśānastho maheśvaraḥ lokakartā mṛgapatirmahākartā mahauṣadhiḥ
Shmashananilaya, dweller in the cremation-ground; Sukshma, the subtle; Shmashanastha, abiding in the cremation-ground; Maheshvara; Lokakarta, creator of the worlds; Mrigapati, lord of beasts; Mahakarta, the great creator; Mahaushadhi, the great remedy.
Verse 14 (shiva.kotirudra.35.14)
उत्तरो गोपतिर्गोप्ता ज्ञानगम्यः पुरातनः । नीतिः सुनीतिः शुद्धात्मा सोमः सोमरतः सुखी ॥ 35.14 ॥
uttaro gopatirgoptā jñānagamyaḥ purātanaḥ nītiḥ sunītiḥ śuddhātmā somaḥ somarataḥ sukhī
Uttara, the supreme; Gopati, lord of the earth; Gopta, the protector; Jnanagamya, attainable through knowledge; Puratana, the ancient one; Niti, right conduct itself; Suniti, of excellent conduct; Shuddhatma, of pure self; Soma, united with Uma; Somarata, delighting in Uma; Sukhi, the ever-blissful.
Verse 15 (shiva.kotirudra.35.15)
सोमपोऽमृतपः सौम्यो महातेजा महाद्युतिः । तेजोमयोऽमृतमयोऽन्नमयश्च सुधापतिः ॥ 35.15 ॥
somapo'mṛtapaḥ saumyo mahātejā mahādyutiḥ tejomayo'mṛtamayo'nnamayaśca sudhāpatiḥ
Somapa, drinker of the soma; Amritapa, drinker of the nectar of immortality; Saumya, the gentle; Mahateja, of great splendor; Mahadyuti, of great radiance; Tejomaya, made of splendor; Amritamaya, made of nectar; Annamaya, sustainer through food; Sudhapati, lord of the nectar.
Verse 16 (shiva.kotirudra.35.16)
अजातशत्रुरालोकः सम्भाव्यो हव्यवाहनः । लोककरो वेदकरः सूत्रकारः सनातनः ॥ 35.16 ॥
ajātaśatrurālokaḥ sambhāvyo havyavāhanaḥ lokakaro vedakaraḥ sūtrakāraḥ sanātanaḥ
Ajatashatru, to whom no enemy is born; Aloka, the very light; Sambhavya, worthy of veneration; Havyavahana, bearer of oblations; Lokakara, maker of the worlds; Vedakara, author of the Vedas; Sutrakara, weaver of the cosmic thread; Sanatana, the eternal.
Verse 17 (shiva.kotirudra.35.17)
महर्षिकपिलाचार्यो विश्वदीप्तिस्त्रिलोचनः । पिनाकपाणिर्भूदेवः स्वस्तिदः स्वस्तिकृत्सुधीः ॥ 35.17 ॥
maharṣikapilācāryo viśvadīptistrilocanaḥ pinākapāṇirbhūdevaḥ svastidaḥ svastikṛtsudhīḥ
Teacher of the great sage Kapila; Vishvadipti, the radiance of the universe; Trilochana; Pinakapani, bow in hand; Bhudeva, god of the earth; Svastida, giver of well-being; Svastikrit, doer of well-being; Sudhi, of pure wisdom.
Verse 18 (shiva.kotirudra.35.18)
धातृधामा धामकरः सर्वगः सर्वगोचरः । ब्रह्मसृग्विश्वसृक्सर्गः कर्णिकारप्रियः कविः ॥ 35.18 ॥
dhātṛdhāmā dhāmakaraḥ sarvagaḥ sarvagocaraḥ brahmasṛgviśvasṛksargaḥ karṇikārapriyaḥ kaviḥ
Dhatridhama, the abode of the Creator; Dhamakara, the maker of splendors; Sarvaga, all-pervading; Sarvagochara, perceptible to all; Brahmasrik, from whom Brahma is born; Vishvasriksarga, whose creative act brings forth the universe; Karnikarapriya, fond of the karnikara flower; Kavi, the seer-poet.
Verse 19 (shiva.kotirudra.35.19)
शाखो विशाखो गोशाखः शिवो भिषगनुत्तमः । गङ्गाप्लवोदको भव्यः पुष्कलः स्थपतिः स्थिरः ॥ 35.19 ॥
śākho viśākho gośākhaḥ śivo bhiṣaganuttamaḥ gaṅgāplavodako bhavyaḥ puṣkalaḥ sthapatiḥ sthiraḥ
Shakha, Vishakha, Goshakha, fathers of Skanda's forms; Shiva; Bhishagnuttama, the supreme physician; Gangaplavodaka, bearer of the Ganga's flood; Bhavya, the magnificent; Pushkala, the abundant; Sthapati, the master-builder; Sthira, the unmoving.
Verse 20 (shiva.kotirudra.35.20)
विजितात्मा विधेयात्मा भूतवाहनसारथिः । सगणो गणकायश्च सुकीर्तिशिछन्नसंशयः ॥ 35.20 ॥
vijitātmā vidheyātmā bhūtavāhanasārathiḥ sagaṇo gaṇakāyaśca sukīrtiśichannasaṁśayaḥ
Vijitatma, of fully mastered self; Vidheyatma, whose self is ever obedient; Bhutavahanasarathi, charioteer of the vehicle of beings; Saganah, accompanied by his hosts; Ganakaya, whose very body is the ganas; Sukirti, of excellent fame; Chhinnasamshaya, whose doubts are cut away.
Verse 21 (shiva.kotirudra.35.21)
कामदेवः कामपालो भस्मोद्धूलितविग्रहः । भस्मप्रियो भस्मशायी कामी कान्तः कृतागमः ॥ 35.21 ॥
kāmadevaḥ kāmapālo bhasmoddhūlitavigrahaḥ bhasmapriyo bhasmaśāyī kāmī kāntaḥ kṛtāgamaḥ
Kamadeva; Kamapala, guardian of desire; Bhasmoddhulitavigraha, whose body is smeared with ash; Bhasmapriya, fond of sacred ash; Bhasmashayi, who lies upon ash; Kami; Kanta, the beautiful; Kritagama, author of the scriptures.
Verse 22 (shiva.kotirudra.35.22)
समावर्तोऽनिवृत्तात्मा धर्मपुञ्जः सदाशिवः । अकल्मषश्चतुर्बाहुर्दुरावासो दुरासदः ॥ 35.22 ॥
samāvarto'nivṛttātmā dharmapuñjaḥ sadāśivaḥ akalmaṣaścaturbāhurdurāvāso durāsadaḥ
Samavarta, who returns through the cycle of creation; Anivrittatma, whose self never withdraws; Dharmapunja, the very mass of dharma; Sadashiva; Akalmasha, the sinless; Chaturbahu, four-armed; Duravasa, of hard-to-reach abode; Durasada, hard to approach.
Verse 23 (shiva.kotirudra.35.23)
दुर्लभो दुर्गमो दुर्गः सर्वायुधविशारदः । अध्यात्मयोगनिलयः सुतन्तुस्तन्तुवर्धनः ॥ 35.23 ॥
durlabho durgamo durgaḥ sarvāyudhaviśāradaḥ adhyātmayoganilayaḥ sutantustantuvardhanaḥ
Durlabha, hard to attain; Durgama, hard to reach; Durga, impregnable as a fortress; Sarvayudhavisharada, skilled in every weapon; Adhyatmayoganilaya, abode of spiritual yoga; Sutantu, of goodly progeny; Tantuvardhana, increaser of lineage.
Verse 24 (shiva.kotirudra.35.24)
शुभाङ्गो लोकसारङ्गो जगदीशो जनार्दनः । भस्मशुद्धिकरो मेरुरोजस्वी शुद्धविग्रहः ॥ 35.24 ॥
śubhāṅgo lokasāraṅgo jagadīśo janārdanaḥ bhasmaśuddhikaro merurojasvī śuddhavigrahaḥ
Shubhanga, of beautiful limbs; Lokasaranga, the essence of the worlds; Jagadisha, lord of the universe; Janardana, who frees people from distress; Bhasmashuddhikara, who purifies through sacred ash; Meru, mountain-like; Ojasvi, the mighty; Shuddhavigraha, of pure form.
Verse 25 (shiva.kotirudra.35.25)
असाध्यः साधुसाध्यश्च भृत्यमर्कटरूपधृक् । हिरण्यरेताः पौराणो रिपुजीवहरो बली ॥ 35.25 ॥
asādhyaḥ sādhusādhyaśca bhṛtyamarkaṭarūpadhṛk hiraṇyaretāḥ paurāṇo ripujīvaharo balī
Asadhya, unattainable by [ordinary] means; Sadhusadhya, attainable [only] through goodness; Bhrityamarkatarupadhrik, who assumes a monkey-like form for his servant; Hiranyareta, of golden radiance; Paurana, the primeval one of the Puranas; Ripujivahara, who takes the life of enemies; Bali, the mighty.
Verse 26 (shiva.kotirudra.35.26)
महाह्रदो महागर्तः सिद्धवृन्दारवन्दितः । व्याघ्रचर्माम्बरो व्याली महाभूतो महानिधिः ॥ 35.26 ॥
mahāhrado mahāgartaḥ siddhavṛndāravanditaḥ vyāghracarmāmbaro vyālī mahābhūto mahānidhiḥ
Mahahrada, the great lake; Mahagarta, the great chasm; Siddhavrindaravandita, honored by hosts of siddhas; Vyaghracharmambara, clad in a tiger's hide; Vyali, bearer of serpents; Mahabhuta, the great element; Mahanidhi, the great treasure.
Verse 27 (shiva.kotirudra.35.27)
अमृताशोऽमृतवपुः पाञ्चजन्यः प्रभञ्जनः । पञ्चविंशतितत्त्वस्थः पारिजातः परावरः ॥ 35.27 ॥
amṛtāśo'mṛtavapuḥ pāñcajanyaḥ prabhañjanaḥ pañcaviṁśatitattvasthaḥ pārijātaḥ parāvaraḥ
Amritasha, partaker of nectar; Amritavapu, of nectar-like body; Panchajanya, embodiment of the conch; Prabhanjana, swift as the wind; Panchavimshatitattvastha, abiding in the twenty-five principles; Parijata, like the wish-fulfilling tree; Paravara, pervading both the higher and the lower.
Verse 28 (shiva.kotirudra.35.28)
सुलभः सुव्रतः शूरो ब्रह्मवेदनिधिर्निधिः । वर्णाश्रमगुरुर्वर्णी शत्रुजिच्छत्रुतापनः ॥ 35.28 ॥
sulabhaḥ suvrataḥ śūro brahmavedanidhirnidhiḥ varṇāśramagururvarṇī śatrujicchatrutāpanaḥ
Sulabha, easily attained; Suvrata, of noble vows; Shura, the valiant; Brahmavedanidhi, treasury of Brahman-knowledge and the Vedas; Nidhi, the treasure itself; Varnashramaguru, teacher of the castes and life-stages; Varni, the celibate student; Shatrujit, conqueror of foes; Shatrutapana, tormentor of foes.
Verse 29 (shiva.kotirudra.35.29)
आश्रमः क्षपणः क्षामो ज्ञानवानचलेश्वरः । प्रमाणभूतो दुर्ज्ञेयः सुपर्णो वायुवाहनः ॥ 35.29 ॥
āśramaḥ kṣapaṇaḥ kṣāmo jñānavānacaleśvaraḥ pramāṇabhūto durjñeyaḥ suparṇo vāyuvāhanaḥ
Ashrama, the hermitage itself; Kshapana, destroyer of sins; Kshama, the one who wanes [at dissolution]; Jnanavan, possessed of knowledge; Achaleshvara, lord of the mountains; Pramanabhuta, the very standard of proof; Durjneya, hard to know; Suparna, embodiment of Garuda; Vayuvahana, whose vehicle is the wind.
Verse 30 (shiva.kotirudra.35.30)
धनुर्धरो धनुर्वेदो गुणराशिर्गुणाकरः । सत्यः सत्यपरोऽदीनो धर्माङ्गो धर्मसाधनः ॥ 35.30 ॥
dhanurdharo dhanurvedo guṇarāśirguṇākaraḥ satyaḥ satyaparo'dīno dharmāṅgo dharmasādhanaḥ
Dhanurdhara, bow-bearer; Dhanurveda, embodiment of archery-lore; Gunarashi, a mass of virtues; Gunakara, a mine of virtues; Satya, the true; Satyapara, devoted to truth; Adina, never wretched; Dharmanga, a limb of dharma; Dharmasadhana, the means to dharma.
Verse 31 (shiva.kotirudra.35.31)
अनन्तदृष्टिरानन्दो दण्डो दमयिता दमः । अभिवाद्यो महामायो विश्वकर्मविशारदः ॥ 35.31 ॥
anantadṛṣṭirānando daṇḍo damayitā damaḥ abhivādyo mahāmāyo viśvakarmaviśāradaḥ
Anantadrishti, of infinite vision; Ananda, bliss itself; Danda, the chastiser; Damayita, subduer of the senses; Dama, self-restraint itself; Abhivadya, worthy of salutation; Mahamaya, the great wielder of illusion; Vishvakarmavisharada, skilled in every work of the universe.
Verse 32 (shiva.kotirudra.35.32)
वीतरागो विनीतात्मा तपस्वी भूतभावनः । उन्मत्तवेषः प्रच्छन्नो जितकामोऽजितप्रियः ॥ 35.32 ॥
vītarāgo vinītātmā tapasvī bhūtabhāvanaḥ unmattaveṣaḥ pracchanno jitakāmo'jitapriyaḥ
Vitaraga, free of attachment; Vinitatma, of humble self; Tapasvi, the ascetic; Bhutabhavana, nurturer of beings; Unmattavesha, garbed as one deranged; Prachchhanna, the concealed; Jitakama, conqueror of desire; Ajitapriya, dear even to the unconquered.
Verse 33 (shiva.kotirudra.35.33)
कल्याणप्रकृतिः कल्पः सर्वलोकप्रजापतिः । तरस्वी तारको धीमान् प्रधानः प्रभुरव्ययः ॥ 35.33 ॥
kalyāṇaprakṛtiḥ kalpaḥ sarvalokaprajāpatiḥ tarasvī tārako dhīmān pradhānaḥ prabhuravyayaḥ
Kalyanaprakriti, of benevolent nature; Kalpa, embodiment of the cosmic age; Sarvalokaprajapati, lord of the creatures of every world; Tarasvi, the swift; Taraka, the deliverer; Dhiman, the wise; Prabhu, the master; Avyaya, the imperishable.
Verse 34 (shiva.kotirudra.35.34)
लोकपालोऽन्तर्हितात्मा कल्पादिः कमलेक्षणः । वेदशास्त्रार्थतत्त्वज्ञोऽनियमो नियताश्रयः ॥ 35.34 ॥
lokapālo'ntarhitātmā kalpādiḥ kamalekṣaṇaḥ vedaśāstrārthatattvajño'niyamo niyatāśrayaḥ
Lokapala, protector of the worlds; Antarhitatma, of hidden self; Kalpadi, the origin of the cosmic age; Kamalekshana, lotus-eyed; Vedashastrarthatattvajna, knower of the true meaning of the Vedas and scriptures; Aniyama, beyond all rules; Niyatashraya, the abode of all rule.
Verse 35 (shiva.kotirudra.35.35)
चन्द्रः सूर्यः शनिः केतुर्वराङ्गो विद्रुमच्छविः । भक्तिवश्यः परब्रह्म मृगबाणार्पणोऽनघः ॥ 35.35 ॥
candraḥ sūryaḥ śaniḥ keturvarāṅgo vidrumacchaviḥ bhaktivaśyaḥ parabrahma mṛgabāṇārpaṇo'naghaḥ
Chandra, Surya, Shani, Ketu; Varanga, of beautiful form; Vidrumacchavi, of coral-like radiance; Bhaktivashya, won over by devotion; Parabrahma, the supreme absolute; Mrigabanarpana, who let fly the arrow at the deer; Anagha, the sinless.
Verse 36 (shiva.kotirudra.35.36)

महातपा दीर्घतपाः स्थविष्ठः स्थविरो ध्रुवः । अहः संवत्सरो व्याप्तिः प्रमाणं परमं तपः ॥ 35.37 ॥
mahātapā dīrghatapāḥ sthaviṣṭhaḥ sthaviro dhruvaḥ ahaḥ saṁvatsaro vyāptiḥ pramāṇaṁ paramaṁ tapaḥ

संवत्सरकरो मन्त्रप्रत्ययः सर्वदर्शनः । अजः सर्वेश्वरः सिद्धो महारेता महाबलः ॥ 35.38 ॥
saṁvatsarakaro mantrapratyayaḥ sarvadarśanaḥ ajaḥ sarveśvaraḥ siddho mahāretā mahābalaḥ

sukīrtiśobhanaḥ śrīmān vedāṅgo vedavinmuniḥ bhrājiṣṇurbhojanaṁ bhoktā lokanātho durādharaḥ

अमृतः शाश्वतः शान्तो बाणहस्तः प्रतापवान् । कमण्डलुधरो धन्वी अवाङ्मनसगोचरः ॥ 35.41 ॥
amṛtaḥ śāśvataḥ śānto bāṇahastaḥ pratāpavān kamaṇḍaludharo dhanvī avāṅmanasagocaraḥ

अतीन्द्रियो महामायः सर्वावासश्चतुष्पथः । कालयोगी महानादो महोत्साहो महाबलः ॥ 35.42 ॥

mahābuddhirmahāvīryo bhūtacārī purandaraḥ niśācaraḥ pretacārī mahāśaktirmahādyutiḥ
Mahabuddhi, of great intellect; Mahavirya, of great potency; Bhutachari, who roams among spirits; Purandara, breaker of cities; Nishachari, who roams by night; Pretachari, who roams among the departed; Mahashakti, of great power; Mahadyuti, of great radiance.

अनिर्देश्यवपुः श्रीमान् सर्वाचार्यो मनोगतिः । बहुश्रुतोऽमहामायो नियतात्मा ध्रुवोऽध्रुवः ॥ 35.44 ॥
anirdeśyavapuḥ śrīmān sarvācāryo manogatiḥ bahuśruto'mahāmāyo niyatātmā dhruvo'dhruvaḥ

ओजस्तेजोद्युतिधरो जनकः सर्वशासनः । नृत्यप्रियो नित्यनृत्यः प्रकाशात्मा प्रकाशकः ॥ 35.45 ॥
ojastejodyutidharo janakaḥ sarvaśāsanaḥ nṛtyapriyo nityanṛtyaḥ prakāśātmā prakāśakaḥ
Ojastejodyutidhara, bearer of vigor, splendor, and radiance; Janaka, the begetter; Sarvashasana, ruler of all; Nrityapriya, fond of dance; Nityanritya, ever dancing; Prakashatma, of luminous self; Prakashaka, the illuminator.

स्पष्टाक्षरो बुधो मन्त्रः समानः सारसम्प्लवः । युगादिकृद्युगावर्तो गम्भीरो वृषवाहनः ॥ 35.46 ॥
spaṣṭākṣaro budho mantraḥ samānaḥ sārasamplavaḥ yugādikṛdyugāvarto gambhīro vṛṣavāhanaḥ

इष्टोऽविशिष्टः शिष्टेष्टः सुलभः सारशोधनः । तीर्थरूपस्तीर्थनामा तीर्थदृश्यस्तु तीर्थदः ॥ 35.47 ॥
iṣṭo'viśiṣṭaḥ śiṣṭeṣṭaḥ sulabhaḥ sāraśodhanaḥ tīrtharūpastīrthanāmā tīrthadṛśyastu tīrthadaḥ
Ishta, the desired one; Avishishta, undifferentiated in all; Shishteshta, dear to the virtuous; Sulabha, easily attained; Sarashodhana, purifier of the essence; Tirtharupa, in the form of a sacred crossing; Tirthanama, of the name of a tirtha; Tirthadrishya, visible at holy places; Tirthada, giver of holy crossings.

अपान्निधिरधिष्ठानं दुर्जयो जयकालवित् । प्रतिष्ठितः प्रमाणज्ञो हिरण्यकवचो हरिः ॥ 35.48 ॥
apānnidhiradhiṣṭhānaṁ durjayo jayakālavit pratiṣṭhitaḥ pramāṇajño hiraṇyakavaco hariḥ
Apanmnidhi, the treasury of waters; Adhishthana, the ground of all; Durjaya, unconquerable; Jayakalavit, knower of the moment of victory; Pratishthita, well-established; Pramanajna, knower of every proof; Hiranyakavacha, clad in golden armor; Hari.

विमोचनः सुरगणो विद्येशो बिन्दुसंश्रयः । बालरूपोऽबलोन्मत्तोऽविकर्ता गहनो गुहः ॥ 35.49 ॥
vimocanaḥ suragaṇo vidyeśo bindusaṁśrayaḥ bālarūpo'balonmatto'vikartā gahano guhaḥ
Vimochana, the liberator; Suragana, embodiment of the hosts of gods; Vidyesha, lord of knowledge; Bindusamshraya, resting in the bindu; Balarupa, in the form of a child; Abala, seemingly powerless; Unmatta, the deranged; Avikarta, changeless; Gahana, the unfathomable; Guha, the hidden.

करणं कारणं कर्ता सर्वबन्धविमोचनः । व्यवसायो व्यवस्थानः स्थानदो जगदादिजः ॥ 35.50 ॥
karaṇaṁ kāraṇaṁ kartā sarvabandhavimocanaḥ vyavasāyo vyavasthānaḥ sthānado jagadādijaḥ

vīracūḍāmaṇirvettā cidānando nadīdharaḥ ājñādhārastriśūlī ca śipiviṣṭaḥ śivālayaḥ

बालखिल्यो महाचापस्तिग्मांशुर्बधिरः खगः । अभिरामः सुशरणः सुब्रह्मण्यः सुधापतिः ॥ 35.53 ॥
bālakhilyo mahācāpastigmāṁśurbadhiraḥ khagaḥ abhirāmaḥ suśaraṇaḥ subrahmaṇyaḥ sudhāpatiḥ

amoghadaṇḍo madhyastho hiraṇyo brahmavarcasī paramārthaḥ paro māyī śambaro vyāghralocanaḥ

रुचिर्विरञ्चिः स्वर्बन्धुर्वाचस्पतिरहर्पतिः । रविर्विरोचनः स्कन्दः शास्ता वैवस्वतो यमः ॥ 35.56 ॥
rucirvirañciḥ svarbandhurvācaspatiraharpatiḥ ravirvirocanaḥ skandaḥ śāstā vaivasvato yamaḥ

युक्तिरुन्नतकीर्तिश्च सानुरागः परञ्जयः । कैलासाधिपतिः कान्तः सविता रविलोचनः ॥ 35.57 ॥
yuktirunnatakīrtiśca sānurāgaḥ parañjayaḥ kailāsādhipatiḥ kāntaḥ savitā ravilocanaḥ
Yukti, the right means; Unnatakirti, of exalted fame; Sanuraga, full of affection; Paranjaya, the supremely victorious; Kailasadhipati, lord of Kailasa; Kanta, the beloved; Savita, in the form of the sun-god; Ravilochana, the sun as his eye.

विद्वत्तमो वीतभयो विश्वभर्त्तानिवारितः । नित्यो नियतकल्याणः पुण्यश्रवणकीर्तनः ॥ 35.58 ॥
vidvattamo vītabhayo viśvabharttānivāritaḥ nityo niyatakalyāṇaḥ puṇyaśravaṇakīrtanaḥ
Vidvattama, the most learned; Vitabhaya, fearless; Vishvabharta, sustainer of the universe; Anivarita, the unrestrainable; Nitya, the eternal; Niyatakalyana, ever-auspicious; Punyashravanakirtana, whose hearing and praising alone confer merit.

दूरश्रवा विश्वसहो ध्येयो दुःस्वप्ननाशनः । उत्तारणो दुष्कृतिहा विज्ञेयो दुःसहोऽभवः ॥ 35.59 ॥
dūraśravā viśvasaho dhyeyo duḥsvapnanāśanaḥ uttāraṇo duṣkṛtihā vijñeyo duḥsaho'bhavaḥ
Durashrava, of far-reaching hearing; Vishvasaha, who endures all; Dhyeya, worthy of meditation; Duhsvapnanashana, dispeller of evil dreams; Uttarana, who ferries across; Dushkritiha, destroyer of evil deeds; Vijneya, knowable; Duhsaha, unbearable [to foes]; Abhava, the unborn.

अनादिर्भूर्भुवो लक्ष्मीः किरीटी त्रिदशाधिपः । विश्वगोप्ता विश्वकर्ता सुवीरो रुचिराङ्गदः ॥ 35.60 ॥
anādirbhūrbhuvo lakṣmīḥ kirīṭī tridaśādhipaḥ viśvagoptā viśvakartā suvīro rucirāṅgadaḥ
Anadi, without beginning; Bhur-bhuvah-Lakshmi, embodiment of earth, sky, and glory; Kiriti, the crowned; Tridashadhipa, lord of the thirty gods; Vishvagopta, protector of the universe; Vishvakarta, creator of the universe; Suvira, the mighty hero; Ruchirangada, wearing beautiful armlets.

जननो जनजन्मादिः प्रीतिमान्नीतिमान्धवः । वसिष्ठः कश्यपो भानुर्भीमो भीमपराक्रमः ॥ 35.61 ॥
janano janajanmādiḥ prītimānnītimāndhavaḥ vasiṣṭhaḥ kaśyapo bhānurbhīmo bhīmaparākramaḥ
Janana, the begetter; Janajanmadi, the origin of the birth of creatures; Pritiman, the loving; Nitiman, the righteous; Dhava, the lord; Vasishtha; Kashyapa; Bhanu, the sun; Bhima, the terrible; Bhimaparakrama, of terrible valor.

प्रणवः सत्पथाचारो महाकोशो महाधनः । जन्माधिपो महादेवः सकलागमपारगः ॥ 35.62 ॥
praṇavaḥ satpathācāro mahākośo mahādhanaḥ janmādhipo mahādevaḥ sakalāgamapāragaḥ
Pranava, the syllable Om; Satpathachara, walker of the righteous path; Mahakosha, the great treasury; Mahadhana, of great wealth; Janmadhipa, lord of birth; Mahadeva; Sakalagamaparaga, master of every scripture.

तत्त्वं तत्त्वविदेकात्मा विभुर्विश्वविभूषणः । ऋषिर्ब्राह्मण ऐश्वर्यजन्ममृत्युजरातिगः ॥ 35.63 ॥
tattvaṁ tattvavidekātmā vibhurviśvavibhūṣaṇaḥ ṛṣirbrāhmaṇa aiśvaryajanmamṛtyujarātigaḥ
Tattva, the ultimate reality; Tattvavid, knower of that reality; Ekatma, the one self; Vibhu, the all-pervading; Vishvavibhushana, the ornament of the universe; Rishi; Brahmana; possessed of sovereignty, and beyond birth, death, and old age.

पञ्चयज्ञसमुत्पत्तिर्विश्वेशो विमलोदयः । आत्मयोनिरनाद्यन्तो वत्सलो भक्तलोकधृक् ॥ 35.64 ॥
pañcayajñasamutpattirviśveśo vimalodayaḥ ātmayoniranādyanto vatsalo bhaktalokadhṛk
Panchayajnasamutpatti, source of the five sacrifices; Vishvesha, lord of the universe; Vimalodaya, of stainless rising; Atmayoni, self-born; Anadyanta, without beginning or end; Vatsala, the affectionate; Bhaktalokadhrik, sustainer of his devotees.

गायत्रीवल्लभः प्रांशुर्विश्वावासः प्रभाकरः । शिशुर्गिरिरतः सम्राट् सुषेणः सुरशत्रुहा ॥ 35.65 ॥
gāyatrīvallabhaḥ prāṁśurviśvāvāsaḥ prabhākaraḥ śiśurgirirataḥ samrāṭ suṣeṇaḥ suraśatruhā

amogho'riṣṭanemiśca kumudo vigatajvaraḥ svayañjyotistanujyotirātmajyotiracañcalaḥ
Amogha, the unfailing; Arishtanemi, whose rim wards off calamity; Kumuda, like the white lotus; Vigatajvara, free of affliction; Svayamjyoti, self-luminous; Tanujyoti, luminous in body; Atmajyoti, luminous in soul; Achanchala, the unwavering.

पिङ्गलः कपिलश्मश्रुर्भालनेत्रस्त्रयीतनुः । ज्ञानस्कन्दो महानीतिर्विश्वोत्पत्तिरुपप्लवः ॥ 35.67 ॥
piṅgalaḥ kapilaśmaśrurbhālanetrastrayītanuḥ jñānaskando mahānītirviśvotpattirupaplavaḥ

भगो विवस्वानादित्यो योगपारो दिवस्पतिः । कल्याणगुणनामा च पापहा पुण्यदर्शनः ॥ 35.68 ॥
bhago vivasvānādityo yogapāro divaspatiḥ kalyāṇaguṇanāmā ca pāpahā puṇyadarśanaḥ

उदारकीर्तिरुद्योगी सद्योगी सदसन्मयः । नक्षत्रमाली नाकेशः स्वाधिष्ठानपदाश्रयः ॥ 35.69 ॥
udārakīrtirudyogī sadyogī sadasanmayaḥ nakṣatramālī nākeśaḥ svādhiṣṭhānapadāśrayaḥ

पवित्रः पापहारी च मणिपूरो नभोगतिः । हृत्पुण्डरीकमासीनः शक्रः शान्तो वृषाकपिः ॥ 35.70 ॥
pavitraḥ pāpahārī ca maṇipūro nabhogatiḥ hṛtpuṇḍarīkamāsīnaḥ śakraḥ śānto vṛṣākapiḥ
Pavitra, the purifying; Papahari, remover of sin; Manipura, embodiment of the Manipura chakra; Nabhogati, moving through the sky; Hritpundarikamasina, seated in the lotus of the heart; Shakra, in the form of Indra; Shanta, the peaceful; Vrishakapi, in bull-and-monkey form.

उष्णो गृहपतिः कृष्णः समर्थोऽनर्थनाशनः । अधर्मशत्रुरज्ञेयः पुरुहूतः पुरुश्रुतः ॥ 35.71 ॥
uṣṇo gṛhapatiḥ kṛṣṇaḥ samartho'narthanāśanaḥ adharmaśatrurajñeyaḥ puruhūtaḥ puruśrutaḥ

त्रिलोकपस्त्रिलोकेशः सर्वशुद्धिरधोक्षजः । अव्यक्तलक्षणो देवो व्यक्ताव्यक्तो विशाम्पतिः ॥ 35.108 ॥
trilokapastrilokeśaḥ sarvaśuddhiradhokṣajaḥ avyaktalakṣaṇo devo vyaktāvyakto viśāmpatiḥ
Trilokapa, guardian of the three worlds; Trilokesha, lord of the three worlds; Sarvashuddhi, wholly pure; Adhokshaja, beyond the senses; Avyaktalakshana, of unmanifest nature; Deva, the god; Vyaktavyakta, both manifest and unmanifest; Vishampati, lord of the people.
Verse 109 (shiva.kotirudra.35.109)
वरशीलो वरगुणः सारो मानधनो मयः । ब्रह्मा विष्णुः प्रजापालो हंसो हंसगतिर्वयः ॥ 35.109 ॥
varaśīlo varaguṇaḥ sāro mānadhano mayaḥ brahmā viṣṇuḥ prajāpālo haṁso haṁsagatirvayaḥ
Varashila, of excellent conduct; Varaguna, of excellent virtue; Sara, the essence; Manadhana, whose wealth is honor; Maya, the maya-form; Brahma; Vishnu; Prajapala, guardian of creatures; Hamsa, the swan; Hamsagati, of swan-like gait; Vayah, the very span of life.
Verse 110 (shiva.kotirudra.35.110)
वेधा विधाता धाता च स्रष्टा हर्ता चतुर्मुखः । कैलासशिखरावासी सर्वावासी सदागतिः ॥ 35.110 ॥
vedhā vidhātā dhātā ca sraṣṭā hartā caturmukhaḥ kailāsaśikharāvāsī sarvāvāsī sadāgatiḥ
Vedha, Vidhata, Dhata, the ordainers; Srashta, the creator; Harta, the destroyer; Chaturmukha, four-faced; Kailasashikharavasi, dweller on Kailasa's peak; Sarvavasi, dwelling everywhere; Sadagati, ever in motion.
Verse 111 (shiva.kotirudra.35.111)
हिरण्यगर्भो द्रुहिणो भूतपालोऽथ भूपतिः । सद्योगी योगविद्योगी वरदो ब्राह्मणप्रियः ॥ 35.111 ॥
hiraṇyagarbho druhiṇo bhūtapālo'tha bhūpatiḥ sadyogī yogavidyogī varado brāhmaṇapriyaḥ
Hiranyagarbha, the golden-wombed; Druhina, in the form of Brahma; Bhutapala, protector of beings; Bhupati, lord of the earth; Sadyogi, the true yogi; Yogavid, knower of yoga; Yogi; Varada, boon-giver; Brahmanapriya, dear to brahmins.
Verse 112 (shiva.kotirudra.35.112)
देवप्रियो देवनाथो देवज्ञो देवचिन्तकः । विषमाक्षो विशालाक्षो वृषदो वृषवर्धनः ॥ 35.112 ॥
devapriyo devanātho devajño devacintakaḥ viṣamākṣo viśālākṣo vṛṣado vṛṣavardhanaḥ
Devapriya, dear to the gods; Devanatha, lord of the gods; Devajna, knower of the gods; Devachintaka, well-wisher of the gods; Vishamaksha, of uneven eyes; Vishalaksha, wide-eyed; Vrishada, bull-like; Vrishavardhana, increaser of dharma.
Verse 113 (shiva.kotirudra.35.113)
निर्ममो निरहङ्कारो निर्मोहो निरुपद्रवः । दर्पहा दर्पदो दृप्तः सर्वर्तुपरिवर्तकः ॥ 35.113 ॥
nirmamo nirahaṅkāro nirmoho nirupadravaḥ darpahā darpado dṛptaḥ sarvartuparivartakaḥ
Nirmama, without possessiveness; Nirahankara, without ego; Nirmoha, without delusion; Nirupadrava, without calamity; Darpaha, destroyer of pride; Darpada, giver of pride [to the deserving]; Dripta, the exultant; Sarvartuparivartaka, changer of all the seasons.
Verse 114 (shiva.kotirudra.35.114)
सहस्रजित् सहस्रार्चिः स्निग्धप्रकृतिदक्षिणः । भूतभव्यभवन्नाथः प्रभवो भूतिनाशनः ॥ 35.114 ॥
sahasrajit sahasrārciḥ snigdhaprakṛtidakṣiṇaḥ bhūtabhavyabhavannāthaḥ prabhavo bhūtināśanaḥ
Sahasrajit, conqueror of thousands; Sahasrarchi, of a thousand rays; Snigdhaprakriti, of a gentle nature; Dakshina, the generous; Bhutabhavyabhavannatha, lord of past, future, and present; Prabhava, the source; Bhutinashana, destroyer of [excessive] prosperity.
Verse 115 (shiva.kotirudra.35.115)
अर्थोऽनर्थो महाकोशः परकार्यैकपण्डितः । निष्कण्टकः कृतानन्दो निर्व्याजो व्याजमर्दनः ॥ 35.115 ॥
artho'nartho mahākośaḥ parakāryaikapaṇḍitaḥ niṣkaṇṭakaḥ kṛtānando nirvyājo vyājamardanaḥ
Artha, meaning itself; Anartha, also its opposite; Mahakosha, the great treasury; Parakaryaikapandita, uniquely skilled in others' welfare; Nishkantaka, unobstructed; Kritananda, giver of bliss; Nirvyaja, guileless; Vyajamardana, crusher of deceit.
Verse 116 (shiva.kotirudra.35.116)
सत्त्ववान्सात्त्विकः सत्यकीर्तिः स्नेहकृतागमः । अकम्पितो गुणग्राही नैकात्मा नैककर्मकृत् ॥ 35.116 ॥
sattvavānsāttvikaḥ satyakīrtiḥ snehakṛtāgamaḥ akampito guṇagrāhī naikātmā naikakarmakṛt
Sattvavan, endowed with goodness; Sattvika, of pure disposition; Satyakirti, of true fame; Snehakritagama, who composed the scriptures out of love; Akampita, the unshaken; Gunagrahi, receiver of virtues; Naikatma, of manifold selves; Naikakarmakrit, doer of many deeds.
Verse 117 (shiva.kotirudra.35.117)
सुप्रीतः सुमुखः सूक्ष्मः सुकरो दक्षिणानिलः । नन्दिस्कन्धधरो धुर्यः प्रकटः प्रीतिवर्धनः ॥ 35.117 ॥
suprītaḥ sumukhaḥ sūkṣmaḥ sukaro dakṣiṇānilaḥ nandiskandhadharo dhuryaḥ prakaṭaḥ prītivardhanaḥ
Suprita, well-pleased; Sumukha, of fair face; Sukshma, the subtle; Sukara, the easily performed; Dakshinanila, the southern breeze; Nandiskandhadhara, borne on Nandi's shoulder; Dhurya, the bearer of the yoke; Pritivardhana, increaser of love.
Verse 118 (shiva.kotirudra.35.118)
अपराजितः सर्वसत्त्वो गोविन्दः सत्त्ववाहनः । अधृतः स्वधृतः सिद्धः पूतमूर्तिर्यशोधनः ॥ 35.118 ॥
aparājitaḥ sarvasattvo govindaḥ sattvavāhanaḥ adhṛtaḥ svadhṛtaḥ siddhaḥ pūtamūrtiryaśodhanaḥ
Aparajita, the unconquered; Sarvasattva, present in all beings; Govinda; Sattvavahana, whose vehicle is goodness; Adhrita, unsupported [by anything else]; Svadhrita, self-sustained; Siddha, the perfected; Putamurti, of pure form; Yashodhana, whose wealth is fame.
Verse 119 (shiva.kotirudra.35.119)
वाराहशृङ्गधृक्छृङ्गी बलवानेकनायकः । श्रुतिप्रकाशः श्रुतिमानेकबन्धुरनेककृत् ॥ 35.119 ॥
vārāhaśaṛṅgadhṛkchṛṅgī balavānekanāyakaḥ śrutiprakāśaḥ śrutimānekabandhuranekakṛt
Varahashringadhrik, bearer of the boar's tusk; Shringi, the horned one; Balavan, the mighty; Ekanayaka, the sole leader; Shrutiprakasha, illumined in the scriptures; Shrutiman, versed in the scriptures; Ekabandhu, sole kinsman of all; Anekakrit, doer of manifold deeds.
Verse 120 (shiva.kotirudra.35.120)
श्रीवत्सलशिवारम्भः शान्तभद्रः समो यशः । भूशयो भूषणो भूतिर्भूतकृद् भूतभावनः ॥ 35.120 ॥
śrīvatsalaśivārambhaḥ śāntabhadraḥ samo yaśaḥ bhūśayo bhūṣaṇo bhūtirbhūtakṛd bhūtabhāvanaḥ
Shrivatsalashivarambha, lovingly undertaking both prosperity and auspiciousness; Shantabhadra, tranquil and benign; Sama, the equable; Yashah, fame itself; Bhushaya, who reclines upon the earth; Bhushana, the ornament; Bhuti, prosperity itself; Bhutakrit, creator of beings; Bhutabhavana, nurturer of beings.
Verse 121 (shiva.kotirudra.35.121)
अकम्पो भक्तिकायस्तु कालहा नीललोहितः । सत्यव्रतमहात्यागी नित्यशान्तिपरायणः ॥ 35.121 ॥
akampo bhaktikāyastu kālahā nīlalohitaḥ satyavratamahātyāgī nityaśāntiparāyaṇaḥ
Akampa, the unshaken; Bhaktikaya, whose very body is devotion; Kalaha, destroyer even of Time; Nilalohita, of dark-and-ruddy hue; Satyavratamahatyagi, of great renunciation upheld through the vow of truth; Nityashantiparayana, ever devoted to peace.
Verse 122 (shiva.kotirudra.35.122)
परार्थवृत्तिर्वरदो विरक्तस्तु विशारदः । शुभदः शुभकर्ता च शुभनामा शुभः स्वयम् ॥ 35.122 ॥
parārthavṛttirvarado viraktastu viśāradaḥ śubhadaḥ śubhakartā ca śubhanāmā śubhaḥ svayam
Parartha vritti, ever occupied with others' welfare; Varada, boon-giver; Virakta, the dispassionate; Vishrada, the accomplished; Shubhada, giver of good; Shubhakarta, doer of good; Shubhanama, of auspicious name; and himself the very embodiment of good.
Verse 123 (shiva.kotirudra.35.123)
अनर्थितोऽगुणः साक्षी ह्यकर्ता कनकप्रभः । स्वभावभद्रो मध्यस्थः शत्रुघ्नो विघ्ननाशनः ॥ 35.123 ॥
anarthito'guṇaḥ sākṣī hyakartā kanakaprabhaḥ svabhāvabhadro madhyasthaḥ śatrughno vighnanāśanaḥ
Anarthita, desiring nothing for himself; Aguna, beyond the gunas; Sakshi, the witness; Akarta, the non-doer; Kanakaprabha, of golden radiance; Svabhavabhadra, benevolent by nature; Madhyastha, the impartial; Shatrughna, slayer of foes; Vighnanashana, remover of obstacles.
Verse 124 (shiva.kotirudra.35.124)
शिखण्डी कवची शूली जटी मुण्डी च कुण्डली । अमृत्युः सर्वदृक्सिंहस्तेजोराशिर्महामणिः ॥ 35.124 ॥
śikhaṇḍī kavacī śūlī jaṭī muṇḍī ca kuṇḍalī amṛtyuḥ sarvadṛksiṁhastejorāśirmahāmaṇiḥ
Shikhandi, crested; Kavachi, armored; Shuli, trident-bearer; Jati, matted-locked; Mundi, shaven-headed; Kundali, ear-ringed; Amrityu, deathless; Sarvadrik, all-seeing; in the form of the lion; Tejorashi, a mass of splendor; Mahamani, the great gem.
Verse 125 (shiva.kotirudra.35.125)
असङ्ख्येयोऽप्रमेयात्मा वीर्यवान् वीर्यकोविदः । वेद्यश्चैव वियोगात्मा परावरमुनीश्वरः ॥ 35.125 ॥
asaṅkhyeyo'prameyātmā vīryavān vīryakovidaḥ vedyaścaiva viyogātmā parāvaramunīśvaraḥ
Asankhyeya, the innumerable; Aprameyatma, of immeasurable self; Viryavan, potent; Viryakovida, expert in power; Vedya, the knowable; Viyogatma, of a self beyond separation; Paravaramunishvara, lord of sages both great and small.
Verse 126 (shiva.kotirudra.35.126)
अनुत्तमो दुराधर्षो मधुरप्रियदर्शनः । सुरेशः शरणं सर्वः शब्दब्रह्म सतां गतिः ॥ 35.126 ॥
anuttamo durādharṣo madhurapriyadarśanaḥ sureśaḥ śaraṇaṁ sarvaḥ śabdabrahma satāṁ gatiḥ
Anuttama, unsurpassed; Duradharsha, unassailable; Madhurapriyadarshana, of sweet and pleasing appearance; Suresha, lord of the gods; Sharanam sarvah, refuge of all; Shabdabrahma, the sound-absolute; Satam gatih, the goal of the virtuous.
Verse 127 (shiva.kotirudra.35.127)
कालपक्षः कालकालः कङ्कणीकृतवासुकिः । महेष्वासो महीभर्ता निष्कलङ्को विशृङ्खलः ॥ 35.127 ॥
kālapakṣaḥ kālakālaḥ kaṅkaṇīkṛtavāsukiḥ maheṣvāso mahībhartā niṣkalaṅko viśaṛṅkhalaḥ
Kalapaksha, aligned with Time; Kalakala, the death of death; Kankanikritavasuki, who wears the serpent Vasuki as a bracelet; Maheshvasa, the great archer; Mahibharta, sustainer of the earth; Nishkalanka, spotless; Vishrinkhala, unfettered.
Verse 128 (shiva.kotirudra.35.128)
द्युमणिस्तरणिर्धन्यः सिद्धिदः सिद्धिसाधनः । विश्वतः संवृतः स्तुत्यो व्यूढोरस्को महाभुजः ॥ 35.128 ॥
dyumaṇistaraṇirdhanyaḥ siddhidaḥ siddhisādhanaḥ viśvataḥ saṁvṛtaḥ stutyo vyūḍhorasko mahābhujaḥ
Dyumani, the sun; Tarani, the sun (or the ferry across); Dhanya, the blessed; Siddhida, giver of accomplishment; Siddhisadhana, the means to accomplishment; Vishvatah samvrita, enveloping all sides; Stutya, worthy of praise; Vyudhoraska, of broad chest; Mahabhuja, of mighty arms.
Verse 129 (shiva.kotirudra.35.129)
सर्वयोनिर्निरातङ्को नरनारायणप्रियः । निर्लेपो निष्प्रपञ्चात्मा निर्व्यङ्गो व्यङ्गनाशनः ॥ 35.129 ॥
sarvayonirnirātaṅko naranārāyaṇapriyaḥ nirlepo niṣprapañcātmā nirvyaṅgo vyaṅganāśanaḥ
Sarvayoni, the source of all; Niratanka, free of dread; Naranarayanapriya, dear to Nara-Narayana; Nirlepa, the unattached; Nishprapanchatma, of a self beyond the phenomenal world; Nirvyanga, flawless; Vyanganashana, remover of flaws.
Verse 130 (shiva.kotirudra.35.130)
स्तव्यः स्तवप्रियः स्तोता व्यासमूर्तिर्निरङ्कुशः । निरवद्यमयोपायो विद्याराशी रसप्रियः ॥ 35.130 ॥
stavyaḥ stavapriyaḥ stotā vyāsamūrtirniraṅkuśaḥ niravadyamayopāyo vidyārāśī rasapriyaḥ
Stavya, worthy of praise; Stavapriya, fond of praise; Stota, the praiser himself; Vyasamurti, embodiment of Vyasa; Nirankusha, unrestrained; Niravadyamayopaya, of blameless means; Vidyarashi, a mass of learning; Rasapriya, fond of essence and delight.
Verse 131 (shiva.kotirudra.35.131)
प्रशान्तबुद्धिरक्षुण्णः सङ्ग्रही नित्यसुन्दरः । वैयाघ्रधुर्यो धात्रीशः शाकल्यः शर्वरीपतिः ॥ 35.131 ॥
praśāntabuddhirakṣuṇṇaḥ saṅgrahī nityasundaraḥ vaiyāghradhuryo dhātrīśaḥ śākalyaḥ śarvarīpatiḥ
Prashantabuddhi, of tranquil intellect; Akshunna, unbroken; Sangrahi, the gatherer; Nityasundara, ever beautiful; Vaiyaghradhurya, foremost in bearing the tiger's hide; Dhatrisha, lord of the earth; Shakalya, the Shakalya form; Sharvaripati, lord of the night.
Verse 132 (shiva.kotirudra.35.132)
परमार्थगुरुर्दत्तः सूरिराश्रितवत्सलः । सोमो रसज्ञो रसदः सर्वसत्त्वावलम्बनः ॥ 35.132 ॥
paramārthagururdattaḥ sūrirāśritavatsalaḥ somo rasajño rasadaḥ sarvasattvāvalambanaḥ
Paramarthaguru, teacher of the highest truth; Datta; Suri, the sage; Ashritavatsala, tender toward those who take refuge in him; Soma; Rasajna, knower of essence; Rasada, giver of essence; Sarvasattvavalambana, the support of all beings.
Verse 133 (shiva.kotirudra.35.133)
एवं नाम्नां सहस्रेण तुष्टाव हि हरं हरिः । प्रार्थयामास शम्भुं वै पूजयामास पङ्कजैः ॥ 35.133 ॥
evaṁ nāmnāṁ sahasreṇa tuṣṭāva hi haraṁ hariḥ prārthayāmāsa śambhuṁ vai pūjayāmāsa paṅkajaiḥ
Thus did Hari praise Hara with a thousand names; he prayed to Shambhu and worshipped him with lotuses.
Verse 134 (shiva.kotirudra.35.134)
ततः स कौतुकी शम्भुश्चकार चरितं द्विजाः । महद्भुतं सुखकरं तदेव शृणुतादरात् ॥ 35.134 ॥
tataḥ sa kautukī śambhuścakāra caritaṁ dvijāḥ mahadbhutaṁ sukhakaraṁ tadeva śaṛṇutādarāt
O brahmins, thereafter the playful Shambhu enacted that most wondrous and delightful deed — listen to it now with reverence.
