Verse 1 (shiva.kailasa.15.1)

ईश्वर उवाच । ततः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि सृष्टिपद्धतिमुत्तमाम् । सदाशिवान्महेशादिचतुष्कस्य वरानने

īśvara uvāca | tataḥ paraṁ pravakṣyāmi sṛṣṭipaddhatimuttamām | sadāśivānmaheśādicatuṣkasya varānane

Ishvara said: "Beyond that, O fair-faced one, I shall now declare the excellent sequence of creation, of the group of four beginning with Mahesha, as it proceeds from Sadashiva."

Verse 2 (shiva.kailasa.15.2)

सदाशिवः समष्टिः स्यादाकाशधिपतिः प्रभुः । अस्यैव व्यष्टितापन्नं महेशादिचतुष्टयम्

sadāśivaḥ samaṣṭiḥ syādākāśadhipatiḥ prabhuḥ | asyaiva vyaṣṭitāpannaṁ maheśādicatuṣṭayam

"Sadashiva is the collective totality, the Lord who presides over Akasha; the group of four beginning with Mahesha is precisely his individualized state."

Verse 3 (shiva.kailasa.15.3)

सदाशिवसहस्रांशान्महेशस्य समुद्भवः । पुरुषानन्तरूपत्वाद्वायोरधिपतिश्च सः

sadāśivasahasrāṁśānmaheśasya samudbhavaḥ | puruṣānantarūpatvādvāyoradhipatiśca saḥ

"From a thousandth portion of Sadashiva arises the origin of Mahesha; because his form is next after Purusha, he is also the Lord who presides over Vayu."

Verse 4 (shiva.kailasa.15.4)

मायाशक्तियुतो वामे सकलश्च क्रियाधिकः । अस्यैव व्यष्टिरूपं स्यादीश्वरादिचतुष्टयम्

māyāśaktiyuto vāme sakalaśca kriyādhikaḥ | asyaiva vyaṣṭirūpaṁ syādīśvarādicatuṣṭayam

"United with the power of Maya on his left, embodied, foremost in action — his own individualized form is the group of four beginning with Ishvara."

Verse 5 (shiva.kailasa.15.5)

ईशो विश्वेश्वरः पश्चात्परमेशस्ततः परम् । सर्वेश्वर इतीदं तु तिरोधाचक्रमुत्तमम्

īśo viśveśvaraḥ paścātparameśastataḥ param | sarveśvara itīdaṁ tu tirodhācakramuttamam

"Isha, then Vishveshvara, then, beyond that, Parameśa, and then Sarveshvara — this indeed is the excellent Wheel of Concealment."

Verse 6 (shiva.kailasa.15.6)

तिरोभावो द्विधा भिन्न एको रुद्रादिगोचरः । अन्यश्च देहभावेन पशुवर्गस्य सन्ततेः

tirobhāvo dvidhā bhinna eko rudrādigocaraḥ | anyaśca dehabhāvena paśuvargasya santateḥ

"Concealment is of two distinct kinds: one pertains to Rudra and the gods like him; the other pertains, through embodiment, to the continuing lineage of bound souls."

Verse 7 (shiva.kailasa.15.7)

भोगानुरञ्जनपरः कर्मसाम्यक्षणावधि । कर्मसाम्ये स एकः स्यादनुग्रहमयो विभुः

bhogānurañjanaparaḥ karmasāmyakṣaṇāvadhi | karmasāmye sa ekaḥ syādanugrahamayo vibhuḥ

"Devoted to coloring souls with experience, until the moment of equilibrium of karma; at that equilibrium, he alone, the all-pervading Lord, becomes wholly grace."

Verse 8 (shiva.kailasa.15.8)

तत्र सर्वेश्वरा यास्ते देवताः परिकीर्तिताः । परब्रह्मात्मकाः साक्षान्निर्विकल्पा निरामयाः

tatra sarveśvarā yāste devatāḥ parikīrtitāḥ | parabrahmātmakāḥ sākṣānnirvikalpā nirāmayāḥ

"There, those deities called 'Sarveshvara' and the others are proclaimed; they are directly of the nature of the Supreme Brahman, free of division, free of affliction."

Verse 9 (shiva.kailasa.15.9)

तिरोभावात्मकं चक्रं भवेच्छान्तिकलामयम् । महेश्वराधिष्ठितं च पदमेतदनुत्तमम्

tirobhāvātmakaṁ cakraṁ bhavecchāntikalāmayam | maheśvarādhiṣṭhitaṁ ca padametadanuttamam

"This Wheel, whose nature is concealment, consists of the Shanti kala; presided over by Maheshvara, this state is unsurpassed."

Verse 10 (shiva.kailasa.15.10)

एतदेव पदं प्राप्यं महेशपदसेविनाम् । माहेश्वराणां सालोक्यक्रमादेव विमुक्तिदम्

etadeva padaṁ prāpyaṁ maheśapadasevinām | māheśvarāṇāṁ sālokyakramādeva vimuktidam

"This very state is to be attained by those who serve the state of Mahesha; for the Maheshvara-devotees, it grants liberation through the stage of Salokya."

Verse 11 (shiva.kailasa.15.11)

महेश्वरसहस्रांशाद् रुद्रमूर्तिरजायत । अघोरवदनाकारस्तेजस्तत्त्वाधिपश्च सः

maheśvarasahasrāṁśād rudramūrtirajāyata | aghoravadanākārastejastattvādhipaśca saḥ

"From a thousandth portion of Maheshvara, the form of Rudra was born; he has the form of the Aghora face, and is the Lord who presides over the principle of Fire."

Verse 12 (shiva.kailasa.15.12)

गौरीशक्तियुतो वामे सर्वसंहारकृत्प्रभुः । अस्यैव व्यष्टिरूपं स्याच्छिवाद्यथ चतुष्टयम्

gaurīśaktiyuto vāme sarvasaṁhārakṛtprabhuḥ | asyaiva vyaṣṭirūpaṁ syācchivādyatha catuṣṭayam

"United with the power of Gauri on his left, the Lord who effects the destruction of all things — his own individualized form is the group of four beginning with Shiva."

Verse 13 (shiva.kailasa.15.13)

शिवो हरो मृडभवौ विदितं चक्रमद्भुतम् । संहाराख्यं महादिव्यं परमं हि मुनीश्वर

śivo haro mṛḍabhavau viditaṁ cakramadbhutam | saṁhārākhyaṁ mahādivyaṁ paramaṁ hi munīśvara

"Shiva, Hara, Mrida, and Bhava — thus is known the wondrous Wheel called Samhara, truly great, divine, and supreme, O lord of sages."

Verse 14 (shiva.kailasa.15.14)

स संहारस्त्रिधा प्रोक्तो बुधैर्नित्यादिभेदतः । नित्यो जीवसुषुप्त्याख्यो विधेर्नैमित्तिकः स्मृतः

sa saṁhārastridhā prokto budhairnityādibhedataḥ | nityo jīvasuṣuptyākhyo vidhernaimittikaḥ smṛtaḥ

"That destruction is declared by the wise to be threefold: the constant one is called the sleep of the individual soul; the occasional one is remembered as caused by Brahma;"

Verse 15 (shiva.kailasa.15.15)

विलयस्तस्य तु महानिति वेदनिदर्शितः । जीवानां जन्मदुःखादिशान्तानामुषितात्मनाम्

vilayastasya tu mahāniti vedanidarśitaḥ | jīvānāṁ janmaduḥkhādiśāntānāmuṣitātmanām

"and the great dissolution of that universe is shown by the Veda; it occurs for souls whose sorrow of birth and the rest has been stilled, whose selves have long dwelt in experience —"

Verse 16 (shiva.kailasa.15.16)

विश्रान्त्यर्थं मुनिश्रेष्ठ कर्मणां पाकहेतवे । संहारः कल्पितस्त्रेधा रुद्रेणामिततेजसा

viśrāntyarthaṁ muniśreṣṭha karmaṇāṁ pākahetave | saṁhāraḥ kalpitastredhā rudreṇāmitatejasā

"— for the sake of rest, O foremost of sages, and as the cause for the ripening of their karmas; this threefold destruction was ordained by Rudra of immeasurable splendor."

Verse 17 (shiva.kailasa.15.17)

रुद्रस्यैव तु कृत्यानां त्रयमेतदुदाहृतम् । संहृतवपि सृष्ट्यादिकृत्यानां पञ्चकं विभोः

rudrasyaiva tu kṛtyānāṁ trayametadudāhṛtam | saṁhṛtavapi sṛṣṭyādikṛtyānāṁ pañcakaṁ vibhoḥ

"This threefold set is declared to belong to the acts of Rudra alone; yet even within destruction, the fivefold set of the Lord's acts, beginning with creation, is present."

Verse 18 (shiva.kailasa.15.18)

मुने तत्र भवाद्यास्ते देवताः परिकीर्तिताः । परब्रह्मस्वरूपाश्च लोकानुग्रहकारकाः

mune tatra bhavādyāste devatāḥ parikīrtitāḥ | parabrahmasvarūpāśca lokānugrahakārakāḥ

"There too, O sage, the deities beginning with Bhava are proclaimed; of the nature of the Supreme Brahman, they act for the world's benefit."

Verse 19 (shiva.kailasa.15.19)

संहाराख्यमिदं चक्रं विद्यारूपकलामयम् । अधिष्ठितं च रुद्रेण पदमेतन्निरामयम्

saṁhārākhyamidaṁ cakraṁ vidyārūpakalāmayam | adhiṣṭhitaṁ ca rudreṇa padametannirāmayam

"This Wheel called Samhara consists of the kala in the form of Vidya; presided over by Rudra, this state is free of all affliction."

Verse 20 (shiva.kailasa.15.20)

एतदेव पदं प्राप्यं रुद्राराधनकाङ्क्षिणाम् । रुद्राणां तद्धि सालोक्यक्रमात्सायुज्यदं मुने

etadeva padaṁ prāpyaṁ rudrārādhanakāṅkṣiṇām | rudrāṇāṁ taddhi sālokyakramātsāyujyadaṁ mune

"This very state is to be attained by those who desire to worship Rudra; for the Rudra-devotees, O sage, it bestows, through Salokya, ultimately union."

Verse 21 (shiva.kailasa.15.21)

रुद्रमूर्तेः सहस्रांशाद्विष्णोश्चैवाभवज्जनिः । स वामदेवचक्रात्मा वारितत्त्वैकनायकः

rudramūrteḥ sahasrāṁśādviṣṇoścaivābhavajjaniḥ | sa vāmadevacakrātmā vāritattvaikanāyakaḥ

"From a thousandth portion of the form of Rudra arose the birth of Vishnu; he, whose very nature is the Vamadeva-wheel, is the sole lord of the principle of Water."

Verse 22 (shiva.kailasa.15.22)

रमाशक्तियुतो वामे सर्व्वरक्षाकरो महान् । चतुर्भुजोऽरविन्दाक्षः श्यामः शङ्खादिचिह्नभृत्

ramāśaktiyuto vāme sarvvarakṣākaro mahān | caturbhujo'ravindākṣaḥ śyāmaḥ śaṅkhādicihnabhṛt

"United with the power of Rama on his left, the great one, the doer of all protection, four-armed, lotus-eyed, dark-hued, bearing the conch and other emblems —"

Verse 23 (shiva.kailasa.15.23)

अस्यैव वासुदेवादिचतुष्कं व्यष्टितां गतम् । उपासनरतानां वै वैष्णवानां विमुक्तिदम्

asyaiva vāsudevādicatuṣkaṁ vyaṣṭitāṁ gatam | upāsanaratānāṁ vai vaiṣṇavānāṁ vimuktidam

"his own group of four beginning with Vasudeva has attained individualized form; it bestows liberation upon Vaishnavas devoted to its worship."

Verse 24 (shiva.kailasa.15.24)

वासुदेवोऽनिरुद्धश्च ततः सङ्कर्षणः परः । प्रद्युम्नश्चेति विख्यातं स्थितिचक्रमनुत्तमम्

vāsudevo'niruddhaśca tataḥ saṅkarṣaṇaḥ paraḥ | pradyumnaśceti vikhyātaṁ sthiticakramanuttamam

"Vasudeva, and Aniruddha, then further Sankarshana, and Pradyumna — thus is known the unsurpassed Wheel of Preservation."

Verse 25 (shiva.kailasa.15.25)

स्थितिः सृष्टस्य जगतस्तत्कर्त्रा सह पालनम् । आरब्धकर्मभोगान्तं जीवानां फलभोगिनाम्

sthitiḥ sṛṣṭasya jagatastatkartrā saha pālanam | ārabdhakarmabhogāntaṁ jīvānāṁ phalabhoginām

"Preservation is the protection, by its agent, of the created universe, up to the end of the experience of commenced karma, for those souls who are experiencers of its fruits."

Verse 26 (shiva.kailasa.15.26)

विष्णोरेवेदमाख्यातं कृत्यं रक्षाविधायिनः । स्थितावपि तु सृष्ट्यादिकृत्यानां पञ्चकं विभोः

viṣṇorevedamākhyātaṁ kṛtyaṁ rakṣāvidhāyinaḥ | sthitāvapi tu sṛṣṭyādikṛtyānāṁ pañcakaṁ vibhoḥ

"This act is declared to belong to Vishnu alone, the ordainer of protection; yet even within preservation, the fivefold set of the Lord's acts, beginning with creation, is present."

Verse 27 (shiva.kailasa.15.27)

तत्र प्रद्युम्नमुख्यास्ते देवताः परिकीर्तिताः । निर्विकल्पा निरातङ्का मुक्तानन्दकराः सदा

tatra pradyumnamukhyāste devatāḥ parikīrtitāḥ | nirvikalpā nirātaṅkā muktānandakarāḥ sadā

"There, those deities headed by Pradyumna are proclaimed; free of division, free of fear, ever the bestowers of the joy of liberation."

Verse 28 (shiva.kailasa.15.28)

स्थितिचक्रमिदं ब्रह्मन् प्रतिष्ठारूपमुत्तमम् । जनार्दनाधिष्ठितं च परमं पदमुच्यते

sthiticakramidaṁ brahman pratiṣṭhārūpamuttamam | janārdanādhiṣṭhitaṁ ca paramaṁ padamucyate

"This Wheel of Preservation, O Brahmin, whose very form is stability, presided over by Janardana, is called the supreme state."

Verse 29 (shiva.kailasa.15.29)

एवदेव पदं प्राप्यं विष्णुपादाब्जसेविनाम् । वैष्णवानां चक्रमिदं सालोक्यादिपदप्रदम्

evadeva padaṁ prāpyaṁ viṣṇupādābjasevinām | vaiṣṇavānāṁ cakramidaṁ sālokyādipadapradam

"This very state is to be attained by those who serve the lotus feet of Vishnu; this Wheel bestows upon the Vaishnavas the state of Salokya and the rest."

Verse 30 (shiva.kailasa.15.30)

विष्णोरेव सहस्रांशात्सम्बभूव पितामहः । सद्योजातमुखात्मा यः पृथिवीतत्त्वनायकः

viṣṇoreva sahasrāṁśātsambabhūva pitāmahaḥ | sadyojātamukhātmā yaḥ pṛthivītattvanāyakaḥ

"From a thousandth portion of Vishnu alone arose Pitamaha, whose very nature is the Sadyojata face, the lord of the principle of Earth."

Verse 31 (shiva.kailasa.15.31)

वाग्देवीसहितो वामे सृष्टिकर्त्ता जगत्प्रभुः । चतुर्मुखो रक्तवर्णो रजोरूपस्वरूपवान्

vāgdevīsahito vāme sṛṣṭikarttā jagatprabhuḥ | caturmukho raktavarṇo rajorūpasvarūpavān

"Together with the goddess of speech on his left, the maker of creation, the Lord of the universe, four-faced, red in color, whose very nature is the form of Rajas —"

Verse 32 (shiva.kailasa.15.32)

हिण्यगर्भाद्यस्यैव व्यष्टिरूपं चतुष्टयम् । हिरण्यगर्भोऽथ विराट् पुरुषः काल एव च

hiṇyagarbhādyasyaiva vyaṣṭirūpaṁ catuṣṭayam | hiraṇyagarbho'tha virāṭ puruṣaḥ kāla eva ca

"his own individualized form is the group of four beginning with Hiranyagarbha: Hiranyagarbha, then Virat, Purusha, and Kala."

Verse 33 (shiva.kailasa.15.33)

सृष्टिचक्रमिदं ब्रह्म पुत्रादिऋषिसेवितम् । सर्वकामार्थदं ब्रह्मन्परिवारसुखप्रदम्

sṛṣṭicakramidaṁ brahma putrādiṛṣisevitam | sarvakāmārthadaṁ brahmanparivārasukhapradam

"This Wheel of Creation, O Brahmin, is served by Brahma's sons and other sages; it grants every desire and purpose, and bestows the happiness of one's kindred."

Verse 34 (shiva.kailasa.15.34)

सृष्टिस्तु संहृतस्यास्य जीवस्य प्रकृतौ बहिः । आनीय कर्मभोगार्थं साधनाङ्गफलैस्सह

sṛṣṭistu saṁhṛtasyāsya jīvasya prakṛtau bahiḥ | ānīya karmabhogārthaṁ sādhanāṅgaphalaissaha

"Creation is the bringing forth, out of Prakriti, of this soul that had previously been withdrawn into it, together with the means, the limbs, and the fruits, for the experience of karma."

Verse 35 (shiva.kailasa.15.35)

संयोजनमितीदं तु कृत्यं पैतामहं विदुः । जगत्सृष्टिक्रियाविज्ञा यावद् व्यूहं सुखावहम्

saṁyojanamitīdaṁ tu kṛtyaṁ paitāmahaṁ viduḥ | jagatsṛṣṭikriyāvijñā yāvad vyūhaṁ sukhāvaham

"This act is called 'conjunction' and is known as belonging to Pitamaha, by those learned in the activity of the world's creation, extending to the fourfold Vyuha, bringing about happiness."

Verse 36 (shiva.kailasa.15.36)

जगत्सृष्टावपि मुने कृत्यानां च पञ्चकं विभोः । अस्ति कालोदयस्तत्र देवताः परिकीर्तिताः

jagatsṛṣṭāvapi mune kṛtyānāṁ ca pañcakaṁ vibhoḥ | asti kālodayastatra devatāḥ parikīrtitāḥ

"O sage, even within the creation of the world, the Lord's fivefold set of acts exists; there is also the rising of time there; the deities of this wheel are proclaimed —"

Verse 37 (shiva.kailasa.15.37)

निवृत्तिरूपमाख्यातं सृष्टिचक्रमिदं बुधैः । पितामहाधिष्ठितं च पदमेतद्धि शोभनम्

nivṛttirūpamākhyātaṁ sṛṣṭicakramidaṁ budhaiḥ | pitāmahādhiṣṭhitaṁ ca padametaddhi śobhanam

"this Wheel of Creation is declared by the wise to be of the nature of Nivritti; presided over by Pitamaha, this state is indeed beautiful."

Verse 38 (shiva.kailasa.15.38)

एतदेव प्रदं प्राप्यं ब्रह्मार्पितधियां नृणाम् । पैतामहानामेतद्धि सालोक्यादिविमुक्तिदम्

etadeva pradaṁ prāpyaṁ brahmārpitadhiyāṁ nṛṇām | paitāmahānāmetaddhi sālokyādivimuktidam

"This very state is to be attained by men whose minds are dedicated to Brahma; for the followers of Pitamaha, it grants liberation through Salokya and the rest."

Verse 39 (shiva.kailasa.15.39)

अस्मिन्नपि चतुष्के तु चक्राणां प्रणवो भवेत् । महेशादिक्रमादेव गौण्या वृत्त्या स वाचकः

asminnapi catuṣke tu cakrāṇāṁ praṇavo bhavet | maheśādikramādeva gauṇyā vṛttyā sa vācakaḥ

"Even in this group of four wheels, the Pranava is present; in the order beginning with Mahesha, it is their expresser through a secondary, figurative usage."

Verse 40 (shiva.kailasa.15.40)

इदं खलु जगच्चक्रं श्रुतिविश्रुतवैभवम् । पञ्चारं चक्रमिति ह स्तौति श्रुतिरिदं मुने

idaṁ khalu jagaccakraṁ śrutiviśrutavaibhavam | pañcāraṁ cakramiti ha stauti śrutiridaṁ mune

"This indeed is the Wheel of the universe, whose glory is renowned in the Shruti; the Shruti itself praises it, O sage, as 'the wheel with five spokes.'"

Verse 41 (shiva.kailasa.15.41)

एकमेव जगच्चक्रं शम्भोः शक्तिविजृम्भितम् । सृष्ट्यादिपञ्चावयवं पञ्चारमिति कथ्यते

ekameva jagaccakraṁ śambhoḥ śaktivijṛmbhitam | sṛṣṭyādipañcāvayavaṁ pañcāramiti kathyate

"This one single Wheel of the universe, unfolded by the power of Shambhu, having five parts beginning with creation, is called 'five-spoked.'"

Verse 42 (shiva.kailasa.15.42)

अलातचक्रभ्रमिवदविच्छिन्नलयोदयम् । परितो वर्तते यस्मात्तस्माच्चक्रमितीरितम्

alātacakrabhramivadavicchinnalayodayam | parito vartate yasmāttasmāccakramitīritam

"Because it revolves on every side, its dissolution and arising unbroken, like the whirling of a firebrand-wheel, it is therefore called a 'wheel.'"

Verse 43 (shiva.kailasa.15.43)

सृष्ट्यादिपृथुसृष्टित्वात्पृथुत्वेनोपदृश्यते । हिरण्मयस्य देवस्य शम्भोरमिततेजसः

sṛṣṭyādipṛthusṛṣṭitvātpṛthutvenopadṛśyate | hiraṇmayasya devasya śambhoramitatejasaḥ

"Because it produces the vast creation at each cycle's start, it is seen as vast; this Wheel belongs to the golden god Shambhu, of immeasurable splendor."

Verse 44 (shiva.kailasa.15.44)

शक्तिकार्यमिदं चक्रं हिरण्यज्योतिराश्रितम् । सलिलेनावृतमिदं सलिलं वह्निनावृतम्

śaktikāryamidaṁ cakraṁ hiraṇyajyotirāśritam | salilenāvṛtamidaṁ salilaṁ vahnināvṛtam

"This Wheel is the product of his power, resting upon the golden light; it is enveloped by water, and that water is enveloped by fire,"

Verse 45 (shiva.kailasa.15.45)

आवृतो वायुना वह्निराकाशेनावृतं महत् । भूतादिना तथाकाशो भूतादिर्महतावृतः

āvṛto vāyunā vahnirākāśenāvṛtaṁ mahat | bhūtādinā tathākāśo bhūtādirmahatāvṛtaḥ

"the fire is enveloped by wind, which is enveloped by space; the great principle is enveloped by the ego-principle, and likewise space by the ego-principle, and that by the great principle,"

Verse 46 (shiva.kailasa.15.46)

अव्यक्तेनावृतस्तद्वन्महानित्येवमास्तिकैः । ब्रह्माण्डमिति सम्प्रोक्तमाचार्यैर्मुनिसत्तम

avyaktenāvṛtastadvanmahānityevamāstikaiḥ | brahmāṇḍamiti samproktamācāryairmunisattama

"and the great principle is likewise enveloped by the Unmanifest — thus, O best of sages, it is declared by believing teachers to be called the 'cosmic egg.'"

Verse 47 (shiva.kailasa.15.47)

उक्तानि सप्तावरणान्यस्य विश्वस्य गुप्तये । चक्राद्दशगुणाधिक्यं सलिलस्य विधीयते

uktāni saptāvaraṇānyasya viśvasya guptaye | cakrāddaśaguṇādhikyaṁ salilasya vidhīyate

"These seven envelopes are said to exist for the protection of this universe; the measure of water is ordained to be ten times greater than the Wheel it surrounds."

Verse 48 (shiva.kailasa.15.48)

उपर्युपरि चान्योऽन्यमेवं दशगुणाधिकम् । ब्रह्माण्डमिति विज्ञेयं तद् विजैर्मुनिनायक

uparyupari cānyo'nyamevaṁ daśaguṇādhikam | brahmāṇḍamiti vijñeyaṁ tad vijairmunināyaka

"And each successive envelope, one above the other, is thus ten times greater than the one before; that, O foremost of sages, is to be known by the wise as the Brahmanda."

Verse 49 (shiva.kailasa.15.49)

इममर्थमुरीकृत्य चक्रसामीप्यवर्त्तनात् । सलिलस्य च तन्मध्ये इति प्राह श्रुतिः स्वयम्

imamarthamurīkṛtya cakrasāmīpyavarttanāt | salilasya ca tanmadhye iti prāha śrutiḥ svayam

"Accepting this meaning, on account of the water's proximity to and surrounding of the Wheel, the Shruti itself declares, 'and of the water, in the midst of it.'"

Verse 50 (shiva.kailasa.15.50)

अनुग्रहतिरोभावसंहृतिस्थितिसृष्टिभिः । करोत्यविरतं लीलामेकः शक्तियुतः शिवः

anugrahatirobhāvasaṁhṛtisthitisṛṣṭibhiḥ | karotyavirataṁ līlāmekaḥ śaktiyutaḥ śivaḥ

"By grace, concealment, destruction, preservation, and creation, the one Shiva, united with his Power, ceaselessly performs his play."

Verse 51 (shiva.kailasa.15.51)

बहुनेह किमुक्तेन मुने सारं वदामि ते । शिव एवेदमखिलं शक्तिमानिति निश्चितम्

bahuneha kimuktena mune sāraṁ vadāmi te | śiva evedamakhilaṁ śaktimāniti niścitam

"What need is there of saying much more here, O sage? I tell you the essence: it is certain that Shiva alone, possessed of Shakti, is this entire universe."
