he himself took the garden's flowers and wove them into garlands. Having thus strung varied garlands, he would place them in the hands of the priest.

Verse 36 (skanda.2.9.36)

paśyañchrīraṁgadāso'yaṁ vyasmaranmālyasañcayam jitendriyo'pi tatkakrīḍāṁ paśyanretaḥ sasarja ha

Shri Varaha said: Thus questioned, Rangadasa, out of shame, could say nothing. Then Madhusudana himself spoke to the ashamed Rangadasa—

Verse 48 (skanda.2.9.48)

श्रीभगवानुवाच । लज्जया किं रंगदास मया त्वं मोहितो ह्यसि । त्वं तावज्जितकामोऽसि धीरो भव महामते ।

śrībhagavānuvāca lajjayā kiṁ raṁgadāsa mayā tvaṁ mohito hyasi tvaṁ tāvajjitakāmo'si dhīro bhava mahāmate

Shri Bhagavan said: 'Why this shame, Rangadasa? It was I myself who bewildered you. You have truly conquered desire — so take heart, O wise one.

Verse 49 (skanda.2.9.49)

गन्धर्वराजवद्राजा भवितासि महीतले । तत्र भुक्त्वा महाभोगान्भक्तिमान्मयि सर्वदा ।

prākāraṁ ca vimānaṁ ca kārayiṣyasi me tadā tatra muktiṁ pradāsyāmi prītyā paramayā yutaḥ

you will build for me a rampart and a shrine. Then, filled with supreme love, I shall grant you liberation.

atraiva kuru sevāṁ tvamāśarīravimokṣaṇāt madbhaktānāṁ sakāmānāmevaṁ muktirbhaviṣyati

Continue your service to me here, right up until you leave the body. Thus even my devotees who still hold worldly desires shall attain liberation.'

ityuktvā bhagavānviṣṇuḥ punarnovāca kiṁcana śrutvā tadraṁgadāso'pi cakārārāmamuttamam
