"By the grace of brahmins I am the consort of Lakshmi; by the grace of brahmins I am the bearer of the earth; by the grace of brahmins I am lord of the world; and by the grace of brahmins alone is my very name Rama."

Verse 60 (skanda.3.84.60)

इत्येवमुक्ता रामेण वाड वास्ते प्रहर्षिताः जयाशीर्भिः प्रपूज्याथ दीर्घायुरिति चाब्रुवन्

ity evam uktā rāmeṇa vāḍavās te praharṣitāḥ jayāśīrbhiḥ prapūjyātha dīrghāyur iti cābruvan

Thus addressed by Rama, those brahmins were filled with great joy; honoring him with cries of victory and blessing, they exclaimed, "May you have a long life!"

Verse 61 (skanda.3.84.61)

āvarjitās te rāmeṇa pādyārghyaviṣṭarādibhiḥ stutiṁ cakāra viprāṇāṁ daṇḍavat praṇipatya ca

Rama won their favor with offerings of water for the feet, arghya, and seats; and, bowing flat to the ground, he praised the brahmins.

Verse 62 (skanda.3.84.62)

कृतांजलिपुटः स्थित्वा चक्रे पादाभिवंदनम् आसनानि विचित्राणि हैमान्याभरणानि च

kṛtāñjaliputaḥ sthitvā cakre pādābhivandanam āsanāni vicitrāṇi haimāny ābharaṇāni ca

Standing with joined palms, he saluted their feet; and various seats, golden ornaments —

Verse 63 (skanda.3.84.63)

समर्पयामास ततो रामो दशरथात्मजः अंगुलीयकवासांसि उपवीतानि कर्णकान्

samarpayāmāsa tato rāmo daśarathātmajaḥ aṅgulīyakavāsāṁsi upavītāni karṇakān

— Rama, son of Dasharatha, then offered them all, along with finger-rings, garments, sacred threads, and ear-ornaments.

Verse 64 (skanda.3.84.64)

प्रददौ विप्रमुख्येभ्यो नानावर्णाश्च धेनवः एकैकशत संख्याका घटोध्नीश्च सवत्सकाः

pradadau vipramukhyebhyo nānāvarṇāś ca dhenavaḥ ekaikaśatasaṁkhyākā ghaṭodhnīś ca savatsakāḥ

He gave to the leading brahmins cows of various colors as well — a hundred to each, cows that yielded milk by the potful, together with their calves —

Verse 65 (skanda.3.84.65)
