The Greatness of Deva Tirtha

Verse 1 (skanda.5.285.1)

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच। नर्मदादक्षिणे कूले देवतीर्थमनुत्तमम् । तत्र देवैः समागत्य तोषितः परमेश्वरः ।

śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca| narmadādakṣiṇe kūle devatīrtham anuttamam| tatra devaiḥ samāgatya toṣitaḥ parameśvaraḥ||

Shri Markandeya said: On the southern bank of the Narmada is the unsurpassed Deva Tirtha, where Parameshvara was pleased by the gods who assembled there.

Verse 2 (skanda.5.285.2)

तत्र तीर्थे तु यः स्नात्वा कामक्रोधविवर्जितः । स लभेन्नात्र सन्देहो गोसहस्रफलं ध्रुवम् ।

tatra tīrthe tu yaḥ snātvā kāmakrodhavivarjitaḥ| sa labhen nātra sandeho gosahasraphalaṁ dhruvam||

One who bathes at that tirtha, free of desire and anger, certainly obtains, without doubt, the fruit of giving a thousand cows.
