The Greatness of Shiva Tirtha

Verse 1 (skanda.5.300.1)

मार्कण्डेय उवाच। ततो गच्छेद्धरापाल शीवतीर्थमनुत्तमम् । दर्शनाद्यस्य देवस्य मुच्यते सर्वकिल्बिषैः ॥

mārkaṇḍeya uvāca| tato gaccheddharāpāla śīvatīrthamanuttamam | darśanādyasya devasya mucyate sarvakilbiṣaiḥ ||

Markandeya said: O protector of the earth, from there one should go to the incomparable Shiva Tirtha, by mere sight of whose god one is freed from all transgressions.

Verse 2 (skanda.5.300.2)

शिवतीर्थे तु यः स्नात्वा जितक्रोधो जितेन्द्रियः । पूजयेत महादेवं सोऽग्निष्टोमफलं लभेत् ॥

śivatīrthe tu yaḥ snātvā jitakrodho jitendriyaḥ | pūjayeta mahādevaṁ so'gniṣṭomaphalaṁ labhet ||

One who bathes at Shiva Tirtha, having conquered anger and the senses, and worships Mahadeva, obtains the fruit of the Agnishtoma sacrifice.

Verse 3 (skanda.5.300.3)

तत्र तीर्थे तु यो भक्त्या सोपवासोऽर्चयेच्छिवम् । अनिवर्तिका गतिस्तस्य रुद्रलोकादसंशयम् ॥

tatra tīrthe tu yo bhaktyā sopavāso'rcayecchivam | anivartikā gatistasya rudralokādasaṁśayam ||

One who, keeping a fast, devotedly worships Shiva at that tirtha attains, without doubt, a state of no return from the world of Rudra.
