The Greatness of Bhargaleshvara Tirtha

Verse 1 (skanda.5.307.1)

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच। ततो गच्छेद्धरापाल भार्गलेश्वरमुत्तमम् । शङ्करं जगतः प्राणं स्मृतमात्राघनाशनम् ॥

śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca| tato gaccheddharāpāla bhārgaleśvaramuttamam | śaṅkaraṁ jagataḥ prāṇaṁ smṛtamātrāghanāśanam ||

Shri Markandeya said: O protector of the earth, from there one should go to the supreme Bhargaleshvara, Shankara, the life-breath of the world, who destroys sin by the mere thought of him.

Verse 2 (skanda.5.307.2)

तत्र तीर्थे तु यः स्नात्वा पूजयेत्परमेश्वरम् । अश्वमेधस्य यज्ञस्य फलं प्राप्नोति मानवः ॥

tatra tīrthe tu yaḥ snātvā pūjayetparameśvaram | aśvamedhasya yajñasya phalaṁ prāpnoti mānavaḥ ||

A man who bathes at that tirtha and worships the supreme Lord obtains the fruit of the horse-sacrifice.

Verse 3 (skanda.5.307.3)

तत्र तीर्थे तु यः कश्चित्प्राणत्यागं करिष्यति । अनिवर्तिका गतिस्तस्य रुद्रलोकादसंशयम् ॥

tatra tīrthe tu yaḥ kaścitprāṇatyāgaṁ kariṣyati | anivartikā gatistasya rudralokādasaṁśayam ||

Whoever gives up his life at that tirtha attains, without doubt, a state of no return from the world of Rudra.
